Pre-orders?! Only thing that comes to mind is that it's stock for Game, Hmv or whoever that have paid up-front for the stock.
I'd imagine they are talking about the sale of stock to the reseller, not the sale of units to the consumer.

This whole thing is quite interesting, in a big multinationals throwing toys out of the pram type way. I wonder what it was that LG had done in the first place / where the roots of this are.

I suspect the reason it's ps3 and not Blu Ray players is to do with the way Blu Ray discs are used / read etc for Ps3 games, and not films (though this is purely speculation)

Continuing my speculation, maybe the LG patent states things about reading BD-Roms which would cover both game and film media.

edit: there's even a wikipedia page.
****ing hell! Steve Heckler sounds like the corporate nutjob from Hell in those official quotes!

Well, screw Sony. Reading that it makes me smile when I read about how the hackers are slowly skinning them alive. Topple the ogre I say, greedy bastards.

So apparently the Dutch courts have ruled that as a result of this injunction they can seize PS3's from wherever they are as they effectively contain 'stolen property'.

Yes, this means they can in theory come into your home and take your PS3 away.

Can't see the Police actually being keen on doing that though.

The Dutch courts must be filled with morons. I simply can't see how that would be legal under EU law.

Think of it in terms of having a TV in your house that you bought off someone who had nicked it. The Police can come take that away, but probably won't.

                    Updates:

UPDATE 2: According to Dutch website InsideGamer.nl the court has lifted the prejudgement seizure order on the PlayStat…

                    Short version:

                    300,000 PS3's seized in Holland.
Sony wins appeal against them being seized, gets them back.
LG must pay Sony's costs for having had them seized.

Next stop, the actual court case.

I presume the courts were just generating some income for themselves by allowing it so that it would be appealed (more money) lol.....

LG have to pay Sony's costs for the appeal, and will be fined every day they fail to comply.

They would've known that before they went for the injunction, so it makes me wonder why they even tried...
