It's like sniper: ghost warrior or whatever that game was called. Budget and very bad game by all accounts, but being a first person shooter with obvious similarities to modern warfare it did really well (though apparently huge numbers were traded in/returned).

True, except Homefront hasn't been rated as a bad game, just not AAA. To be honest, generally, I'm still not getting the issue. So it sold without getting across the board 90%+ reviews, so what? What's new?

Unless it's also because it's sold well whilst having similarities COD. But then that view would be very GameFAQs...

FIFA use to sell increadabley well every year even back when the games were rubbish. Quality has never had anything to do with sales.

Having now played Homefront a bit though I can safley say that it is quite good.

Picked it up but not tried it, figured it was worth a punt even if poor as given HMV's trade in prices for recent releases are obscene and they gave me a £2 voucher and £8 store credit for buying it so technically they'll have paid me £5 to take it off their hands

I think our american cousins were taken in by the cover art... It has that certain something about it, that makes you think 'Chav-tastic'

Gotta say though, bout time this bloody game came out, been eyeing it up for about 2 and a half years now, regardless of whether it is good or not

Over heard the manger in my local Game say to a few of his staff that this is gonna be ufc2010 all over again. Loads and loads of stock, but no-ones buying!

375k sold in America cause they love themselves that much.
                For America James!
Has been a long time coming though as 112 said, few years ago I watched dev talk about how explosions and debris gravitates towards you to put you bang in the middle of the war, sounded like a good wee feature.

We have sold 2 copies today but we are selling it for 35 sealed, a saving on the high street price. The back cover looks impressive but it will take some doing to knock COD from the top spot!

And the reward for making a top selling game?

The New York City-based developer of Homefront, Kaos Studios, has been shut down, according to a source close to the studio. It's not clear if the shutdown was due to the performance of the game, the high cost of operating a studio or some combination of factors. We've reached out to THQ for official confirmation.

Still, they can move to Montreal if they want to.

Game dev never seems to 'stick' in New York. It's just one of those cities that doesn't seem to attract the industry for some reason.

New York is very expensive, and the wages are probably higher over there. I believe thats what THQ mentioned once.

Aha so maybe thats why the price has dropped to below the ?15 mark & play.com had some insider info .

Anyone know if it will affect their online servers?

Can't imagine so, they're still making Homefront 2 as well, just with different devs
