I reckon this is probably faked. Kids aren't that funny

Agreed. It is probably faked. Kids aren't funny in that kind of way. I mean, what are the chances they knew about E.T.? I didn't until recently. But then again, I'm a loser.

When it comes to video games it is usually just funnier to watch them attempt to beat you in SSB:M or Soul Calibur II on a shop demo demo. And to be fair to myself, I only use a character I hate playing with (no Roy or Marth ). And then I just jump un and down on the spot. The kids just generally run their characters off the side anyway.

And I only turn the heat up in Soul Calibur II if they refuse to use a certain character "because she's a girl". And the teenagers in question really should have known better.

Fools! Have they never heard of Chun-Li? Or more importantly, the Dead Or Alive series?

And you actually believe that an 11 year old would know that? Would you like to buy my dead cat? ?50 and she's yours. I'll throw in a **RARE** two week old chicken leg for an extra ?5 if you want

Woah! For a minute I was having a flashback to GameFAQs. I thought someone just tried to insult me for no apparent reason.

*Looks up at the address bar.

          Nope, it's not GameFAQs alright.

And yes. I do realise that the whole thing was almost certainly faked.

For starters, kids have no concept of dignity.

Young kids don't know much about old videogames.

              SHOCK!

EGM sucks balls. It's made of crap paper, it's chock full of ads (seeing is believing, there are more ads than actual pages in the mag) and it's all pretty poor. The writing ain't that bad, but the magazine isn't a proper magazine like the UK ones. It's more of a magazine-lite, so to speak.

My Nephew is 11 and he respects the old games, these kids only know games like GTA.

I don't care what those spoiled kids think about classics!

But when these kids grow up, they will forgot about those games, in about 50 or so yrs, the classics will be forgotten.

Imagine it: ''do you know who Nintendo are?''

                    ''um...''

                    Sad but true

My experience with my younger brothers/cousins is that they don't give a toss about the graphics in a game. If it interests them then it does so because of the gameplay. Just look at how all the kids are into Pokemon - look at the graphics on that game. They could have been drawn 15 years ago on a ZX Spectrum. Maybe American kids think differently, but I seriously doubt it, which is why I also reckon this is a fake.

I'm stunned that one of the kids would even say 'well it's no Splinter Cell'. Well duh!!
What he probably meant to say was 'well it's a much better game than Splinter Cell, but Splinter Cell had lovely lighting!'

**** kids today just have no idea how good they have it.
If they had to fight their way through Commando, break their joystick umpteen times on Combat School or find out just how hard the last guy on Yie Ar Kung Fu then they would understand what it was like in the early days.
Games with Easy levels that makes Halo Legendary look like Halo pre-School!

Screw it I'm loading up MAME when I get home.

Thanks for that article. I found it charmingly funny: forcing kids to play the games you're nostalgic about.

                            Tim: Can I stop now?
                            Well no, you certainly can't.

No. It was funny. I liked it.

Nobody ever tries to sell me anything dead on GameFAQs.

And nobody ever listens to my pleas for Shigeru Miyamoto-san's soiled underwear.

                                Just one sniff, that's all.
