I miss the days upgrading like in Rage Racer or Ridge Racer V. They were the standout titles of the series for me and now they are just too simplistic.

I'll buy it just because it's Ridge Racer. They do need to make a jump to a new style, just as they did with V and then 6 as IMO the series is becoming somewhat stale. Personally I always thought it was going to be called Ridge Racers 3, and jump to a new style from the previous two titles, but I fear it's just a handheld version of 7. I guess it's about gameplay really, and I've enjoyed every game in the series, so it should be fun if a little tired.

Still looking good those screens were nice. Never been a fan of the boost myself. Loved the direction of Type 4 and V but for me all the upgrading weirdness from 7 has me a bit lost, liked the PSP version bar the boosting.

Ridge Racer 7 was my favourite game of this generation alongside Outrun 2006 and WipEout HD, but there's only so many times you can play the same game - this hit home all the more with Ridge Racer 3DS. The series hardly needs a revamp or a reboot, the gameplay itself is spot on... they just need to be a bit more imaginative.

Ridge Racer 6 took everything that was right about the PSP game and put it into HD. Ridge Racer 7 tweaked it to near perfection. Namco need to take it to the next step now.
