Well, EDGE gave Crackdown 2 an 8/10 so I expect some spectacular justification for Infamous 2's score, lol

I'm a long term subscriber and i do feel that the quality dropped the last year or so. Really liking the redesign though so will hold on to my subscription a little longer and see how it develops. Scores in the mag have always been a sore point with people but generally i feel that they do the job and give a good indication of quality games and the ****e. Not sure how i would feel handing over a crisp fiver every month but it's a better read than any other games mag out there at the moment imo.

Wait, a 6 for the Witcher 2!? I've never complained about scores in my life, but this is just....wrong .

Another thought, given the same publisher owns both Edge and Gamestm I guess we can expect a price hike for Gamestm soon too

Sorry, Edge is Future, GamesTM is Imagine. Different publishers.

got my sub copy thru and first impression is nice and weighty, lots of content, looks pretty ugly.

I think the UK Wired is the current state of the art in terms of attractive mag layout.

Loving the new look but, I'm less inclined to read the reviews as they now look like a massive old wad of text. Quite liking the new lifestyle type features gives the magazine a more human feel, more interviews with games related people please felicia day was a good place to start, if you haven't checked out the guild or Dr horribles sing along blog go check them out there very funny,

the post script features with the reviews are a great idea too as I love reading more about games I'm interested in real shame they didn't do this with portal 2 last month.

Best thing about the new Edge is the pic of/quote from Jeff Minter.

Loving the new compact style not sure about the smaller text though.

I like that they use the entirety of the review scale, but (and yes, it's my opinion) I literally cannot comprehend how anyone could say either game were "just above average", in terms of a review score. Yes I need to read the review, and if my sub copy turns up this week, I shall do so and will gladly change my opinion, if neccessary, but to say those games are "just above average" (5/10 being average) is, imho (of course), just...bewildering.

I find it hard to put my opinion on this into words, apologies if it's a little garbled. Of course, it's simply my opinion versus the reviewer in question, but I've played both and (as I said), I can't see how either can be deemed just above average.
I have the same problem with the Mortal Kombat 9 review.

I would personally like to see reviewers who like a genre review that type of game where possible.

Ha ha, hopefully that means Gamestm won't change then. I'm still working through last months Edge so I've only had a cursory glance at the new look issues. I'm a bit puzzled as to why they've changed it. Beyond the physical change it's not that drastic an alteration and seems like a sneaky way of changing the paper type and making it look like the 50p price jump was related to that rather falling revenue. It looks okay though maybe a little too much like something that looks like it belongs on the table in a hairdressers.

I don't like it the new layout at all, if you pick up an Edge issue 1 you can see some of that design ethos right up to the last but one issue, it doesn't feel like Edge now, its more like the Economist or some other dry crusty read.

I don't even find the layout stylish or cutting edge, its old fashioned feeling with an ugly font and too much crammed on a page. I said before Wired is the leader in this front to my eyes, for the first time ever this new layout has me 'considering my edge subscription' - somehting no amount of 6/10s has ever done.

Precicely. It not only makes sense from an editorial position, but for a reader too.

Spot on . It the old Age the news section was detailed and clearly layout ( I miss that) , much like the Pre-screen section and review . It's so poor I may not renew my sub and I'm not saying that to act hard or Big on the board , but EDGE is simply not a great read anymore
