No mention of Nintendo TVii on the European show. We should at least get the service in a limited form, with LoveFilm or Netflix or something. Though I can understand not wanting to demonstrate it on a European broadcast, as content is sure to vary from country to country. Looks pretty slick for the US though. Seems Nintendo is serious about Wii U being more than a game machine, to much bigger extent than Sony with PS3, maybe even more than the XBox 360 too.

I may have to try and get a Japanese launch console MH3G-HD bundle.

You indirectly claim its tech is as cheap to manufacture as that of PS3 and XBox 360. They both retail for about 270 euro on the cheap end. Add the value of a game (NintendoLand) at 50 euro, and you have a total of 320. The controller is a story itself. It has a large, decent resolution touch screen; new proprietary wireless radio technology; IR sender; built in camera and a NFC chip. I'm going to guess it will retail for at least 100 euro separately (though its suggested Japanese retail price suggests it will be closer to 150 euro). From that modest guess of a 100 euro, we should subtract the 40 euro cost of a PS3/XBox 360 controller that's included with the console, and we're left with 60 euro. The current total value sits at 380. We are already getting 30 euro extra value from a brand new console bundle, and that's not even including the HDMI cable and stands for controller and console, which both Sony and Microsoft make you buy separately. Add the fact that there's also a cheaper SKU for those wanting to spend less on the console, and I see no reason to believe a price drop is imminent.
