My kid sister (10 in November) has mentioned the Wii-U to me the last couple of times I've seen her. She owns a Wii and DS but is hardly a gamer, it's just a topic other kids in her class have talked about so clearly there is an awareness of it's existence among kids, only problem for Nintendo is that they don't tend to be the ones with the money and will probably equally be happy with the new Skylander Giants game for their current gen consoles at christmas!

The fact of cost is of course going to be a massive factor, especially if you are buying one for the kids at Xmas, its a very expensive present. When the Wii launched, the price was really good and it was better economical times, for the price of Wii U, the same money would have brought the console, a couple of games and additional Wiimotes/Nunchunk, pretty essential if you have a couple of kids just to save on arguments.
This is another problem with Wii U, if buying for the kids imagine the rows over who gets the touchscreen controller and who gets the ****ty Wiimote, this is exactly how it would go between my niece and nephewSo that is another potential and expensive cost in the future. The more i think about its just far to expensive. I dont mean to sound like im hating on Nintendo so much, i love them but just think they are getting this so so wrong, just as they did with the 3DS.

I'm looking forward to it and so is the missus. This is gonna be my main console in the living room under the TV with my PS3 hooked up in the bedroom. Pretty much played all I want on the 360 now so this will be me set up for the next 2 years atleast anyway.
All this talk about old PS3/360 graphics but look what Nintendo managed to squeeze out of the Wii visually with Mario Galaxy. Now imagine what they'll do with a HD console with more ram.
All this negativity but isn't this mainly what we wanted? A HD Nintendo console with traditional controls albeit with a touch screen in the middle.
We all know the classic Nintendo franchises will come.Last edited by MarioMark; 21-10-2012, 22:03.

Yeah 3DS sells well now, the point being it took some decent games to come out and a rather hefty price cut to help it sell. But when compared to the DS its still not selling as many. Problem Nintendo was how to follow up on DS, its the same problem with Wii U, just how does it follow such a massive success of Wii? I just dont think they have done a good PR job with Wii U and have priced it out of the market. Like i say im sure it will sell for Xmas but after i think it will be in trouble very quickly.

I don't feel they've gotten this launch right but I'm sure it'll pan out decent as a secondary system. Despite it's slow start the 3DS does outsell the NDS like for like and Ninty is nothing if not good at making these things profitable. Will it outsell Wii? I'd be suprised, however I don't imagine it'll bomb either, just be very slow off the mark. For me though Xmas 2012 is much like the rest of the years been, not that amazing for games, so I'll get mine under my belt before more hit my wallet

I think this is your typical half arsed lazy attempt by EA for a FIFA game on a new system. It would be fair enough if this was released at a cheaper price point to make up for the fact its half the game that Xbox/PS3 owners get, but typical its full price. The really sad thing is it will still sell quite well i expect.
