What i still think is amazing, with Xbox360 in particular is just how much the developers have managed to squeeze out of 6/7 year old hardware. It really does totally blow my mind just how they can get things like Assassins Creed 3 and Far Cry 3 running as stunning as they do, its just remarkable. I really cant see the next Xbox being anywhere near the ?400, Microsoft absolutely know this and can easily absorb the financial hit.

That's a little extreme don't you think ... A total rip off because a game has less features probably because the devs have had so little time with the hardware? er no ..

beginning to see a patern here. I have gone back to hovering over the cancel button on my pre order.
Hmm .. Although I can see the pattern too , I'm not all that surprised really , and in all honesty Nintendo is lucky to have these games for launch and I suspect they have been pushing the devs to get any version of these games out regardless of whether features are missing or not. That's no different from any other console launch in the end.

Does it matter that things like ass creed, fifa and madden cost more on wii? No one's buying a wiiu for those games surely? If you wanted to play those games you've already got a 360 or ps3 by now? A ps3 is ?150 now. Why would you wait to pay nearly double that to play it on a wii? People are getting wiiu for the exclusives aren't they? Anyone here not got a ps3 or 360 but is getting a wiiu and intend to play fifa, cod or Mass effect 3 on it? Genuine question.

The 3DS and Vita weren't viable due to iOS pretty much thrashing the handheld market with a snooker ball filled sock. Everyone who owned an iphone or even an android phone had a gaming device in their pockets. Also comparing those two against home consoles isn't even worth it, mark my words just sit back relax and literally watch the WiiU sell out everywhere worldwide. Then we will see just how much this so called old techs value is actually worth. After that just try and assess how much a more powerful ps4 and next box will cost in comparison to a so called ****ty tech WiiU.

I wouldn't go as far to call the Wii U ****ty tech, it could actually be pretty clever but it does require one thing, developers to actually spend time making games that do something innovative with it, just about every game so far shown all just use it for a map/inventory screen, at the moment that is just so incredibly dull, only ZombieU shows anything clever with it. At the moment there really is little to no reason to buy a Wii U, very few decent original launch games and retailers have really not done it any favors by charging, quite frankly just disgusting prices for games that are available on other formats, some of which have been for a good few months.

Of course it will sell out, the old limited stock trick, then let the public assume theres a mad rush for it.Ninty you can't kid a kidder.

Nintendo are the grand masters of this

Is it a bitch to program or something or are they just being lazy/rushed on the conversions?

Probably just rushed, they won't have all the same software and 7 years of knowledge that they have for Ps3/360. Companies like EA will be at the stage where they can almost press a button to make either a PS3 version or a 360 version

I'd be interested to know how long WiiU dev kits have been available.... it's not like Nintendo only handed them out a few weeks ago, I imagine larger developers have had access for a good year or so.

I've got a PS3 and I would still get ME3 on the WiiU if it was sub-$30. $60 MRP? Pass ta.

I've been trawling online shops in Canada to find some decent games prices and shocking Amazon.ca have the cheapest WiiU games with ~40% of their listings being $50 (they have yet to actually add a WiiU category to video games though...) If I hadn't gotten an awesome deal on E3 games from Futureshop.ca (working out as LEGO City Undercover for $45 and Pikmin 3 for $35) I would probably be pissed at game prices. WiiU import prices though...Yeah, I don't want to pay double the price of a console here sorry.

Jury is still out on whether or not I sell NintendoLand on.

I get my generic 3rd party fix via PC/Steam these days, not that that's a fix I delve into that much.

                          XBLA/Emu for classics.

                          Nintendo for platform exclusives.

Edit: Actually, Nintendo for 3rd party stuff too. You can't find Sin & Punishment or MadWorld anywhere else!

This is far from the same industry it was in 2005 when 360 launched, processing power isn't king (and history shows it never was).
How can you say that ? In terms of 3rd party support and in terms of a console that actually doing well I think a good powerful console has shown that it makes a difference more so in America and large parts of Europe . I don't think the industry have change that much from 2005 either and pretty sure MS will come in with a real powerful console that will make the Wii look lame for around ?350 quid

No one really cares about console power anymore. Anyone that's slightly arsed about power knows that PC gaming is by far the most sensible choice, even for cost effectiveness.

Don't be silly, mate. A PC that could run the same latest 360 games at the same quality still cost way more than a 360 plus PCs are normally stuck on a small screen while the console is on the 40 inch plus TV. I like power but I still prefer to play games on a console. As for the Wii U, to me it seems no better than a PS3 or 360 plus has more gimmicky crap which was the sole reason I sold the Wii after two years of being shafted on games.
