I really don't understand people championing wii sales on a fairly hardcore gaming forum. It's a crap machine that has sold well for mams to muck about on when they have friends over for wine or for wii fit for people to abandon like they do with gym memberships.

      That's utter nonsense pebbles.

Haha I have to agree with him, though it has it's share of undoubted quality titles, we have seen the most watery system off all times. It's like what happened with the Playstation only for nans instead of XR3i drivers.

Yep for me it's the weakest system they have ever done. I also don't understand why they don't use their vast warchest to set up a Sega style of divisions to keep a steady supply of varied games.

Remind me again how many new releases Wii user get to play over the same period . I put to you that's Nintendo big trouble with the Wii

Maybe that's why MS is making money from its Game division.

How much did MS lose on the XBox , They didn't hang around with that . If MS feel the need they'll act , but at the moment they're doing ok in Europe and more so the USA and I bet that's more than good enough for MS until next year .
Eh? What are you talking about? MS' Xbox division posted a $230m dollar loss back in March, with considerable decreases in both hardware and software sales. This isn't the first time that such losses have been reported in the 360's life, either.

Sorry - that's patently wrong. SNES outsold MD in the Americas (as well as Japan), for one thing. MD barely outsold SNES in Europe (2 to 3), and Europe can't possibly be considered the wider share of the Western games market at a time when Sega & Nintendo didn't really give a sh1t about Europe.

No, it's not the case with the 360 at all - 360 is nowhere near selling 100m units worldwide - it currently stands at about 70m (barely). For the umpteenth time, Wii has pretty much got this generation won for hardware sales, despite support not being there for it now. From what I can see, MS have pretty much looked to temper anticipation of a 360 successor for the meantime, as have Sony with a PS4. That in itself is far more telling that Nintendo scrambling to release the Wii-U quickly.

That's really worked out well for Sega, hasn't it?

Sega's games division was the source of less than a third of the company's total revenue in the first-half of FY12.

It worked perfectly for Sega in the 90's. Until they kept crapping out pointless hardware.

Why do you keep on bring up 100m in sales, the point is even with just 70 odd million users MS is selling for more games and thus it, retail and MS 3d parties are making far more money and that is reflected in 3rd party and retail support

Really ? SEGA had 60 % of the western gaming market in the 16 bit heyday and still held on to overall marketshare as late as 1995 for the west didn't it .

It worked perfectly for Sega in the 90's
What killed SEGA was selling hardware at a loss and not making it up in software sales

                    5.

Though MS posted a profit of 20 million for the games division , and if you want to talk profits what's Nintendo profits been for the last year even with these 100m units in sales

That in itself is far more telling that Nintendo scrambling to release the Wii-U quickly.
Really ?. Its MS that seem in the strong place , while Nintendo rush out their console.

The 360 had sold 618 million games by the end of March, whereas the Wii had sold 842 million by the end of September, so clearly the Wii has much better game sales as well as hardware sales and TA is talking rubbish. By my reckoning they have roughly the same attach rate and the 360 has been out a year longer.

I really don't understand this kind of horse crap on a gaming forum for people who are supposed to be enthusiastic about video games, no matter who makes them.

There's a lot for "hardcore gamer" on the Wii and anyone who claims otherwise is either a fanboy or doesn't have a clue.

I don't know why a real gamer would be differentiating between hardcore and casual games either. Surely it should be between good and bad. There's certainly no shortage of good games on the Wii.

Because it's clearly one rule for Nintendo and another rule for Sony and MS here at Bordersdown, that's why.
