    Ryu Ga Gotoku/Yakuza 5 [PS3]

    From The Magic Box:

"Toshihiro Nagoshi confirmed that Ryu ga Gotoku 5 [Yakuza 5] is currently in development by the Ryu ga Gotoku Studio."

So, judging by the name this will be a "real" sequel to the series, not a spin-off like Ryu Ga Gotoku Of The End.

What do you want to see in Yakuza 5 in terms of gameplay or story? Personally I'd like to see an entirely new main character, I feel that Kiryu's story is pretty much done and new blood would be welcome. Also, a change of scenery wouldn't hurt either, give us an entirely new town to explore and experience. Re-using Kamurocho with some additions for the 6th(?) time would be a bit too much.

After being only a quarter of the cast in RGG 4 and Of The End, I'd actually like to have Kiryu as the main character again, just in a different city. Maybe Hong Kong or somewhere in China/Korea?

2/3 year development period New City and a completely brand new engine and animation system are musts imo.

I love for the series to now take place in a Western inspired city and to be multi platform for the next gen systems. To help grow the series in the west and give SEGA a great start to the next gen systems in a couple of years time

I'd hope for it to have a bit of of a longer development period this time as well, the ending credits and final message when completing Ryu Ga Gotoku Of the End seemed to suggest they were done with the annual updates for a while anyway.

I'm still catching up but despite it reusing the city a lot I wouldn't want a western based entry, it'd kill a lot of the appeal of the series. The last comment made was that Yakuza 5 would be a complete overhaul as Nagoshi was unhappy with the PS2 template still being used and Of the End was its send off which could be good news

Crumbs... Not even unwrapped Yak 4 yet!

How about Yakuza in the 1980s, in Kowloon's Walled City?

Why would the Japanese mafia be there? Who knows!

I wouldn't mind a sequel to Kenzan either! That was ace.

Yeah an 80's version could work as there is plenty of back story to go at if you played as Fuma, they touch on a bit of his past in the second game with the whole Jingweon mafia slaughter, shame they haven't expanded on him further with his own game.

                Lol.

Glad to hear the series is getting a re-boot, although I love it as it is. Currently wasting hours to MahJong and Shogi in four.

I wonder if the world might be made a little more heavy with consequences. I mean, it's odd how you can routinely batter people to a pulp in front of the police and passers-by, and then everyone carries on as if nothing had happened. Maybe it should be more Deus-Exy, although tbh that would probably get boring...nah, keep it just as implausibly, brilliantly daft as it already is please!

80's Yakuza would be really cool. Definite NO to a western (American) city, Yakuza is about Japanese mafia and Japan. My wish would be a completely new main city in Japan and maybe a smaller secondary city where part of the game would take place, like Hong Kong, Seoul etc.

GamesRadar+ takes you closer to the games, movies and TV you love.

Details revealed include the game being set in Kamurocho and another city. They're also considering Hostess Auditions and Kazuma will return.

So that it becomes like every other game that appeals to the west?

"The producer also revealed that he'd like to make a 'chapter zero'-like entry that tells the past story of the Tojo Clan."

                        That would be pretty interesting.

If it grows the series I don't see the harm myself, I don't see how much because it would be different in a different city with a more western appeal and characters who that would really hurt the game.To me Ninja Gaiden II was still Ninja Gaiden even though it took place western style cities Shenmue II was still Shenmue even though it took place in China a totally different city and culture

Surprised to see Kazuma as the main character. I think his story's run its course and felt Yakuza 4 was all the better for focusing on new faces. I guess the term 'main character' doesn't rule out other playable plot-lines, but yeah, what an eventful life this man has lived!

Like the sound of numerous cities and seamless fights though. Let's hope they build a new fighting engine to go with it...Uncharted 3 with insane acrobatic finishers plz? Kaythxbye.
