Didn't take long to get all the achievements on this, just need to remember how to play as the horse now

I used to like playing it with one button per gear so I could drop into 2nd to power slide(view change was on the triggers). I wonder if they'll let me do the same here?

Yes you can that's the default set-up btw . At last a Arcade perfect version in the home and this is Arcade perfect in all the key area's the handling, the textures and the AI. My only small issues is no AI cars in Multi Player and I sort of miss the digital steering on the D-pad (after playing the Saturn version so much)

Massive regretting selling my Force Feedback wheel too

Non-player cars during multi-player confirmed. They are all the same design though.

You don't even have a HDD currently..

Could always use a USB memory stick I guess.

Please can someone start a First Play thread for this sort of chat?
                  Thanks.

Yep and the more so as the game is only a couple of hundred meg

Isn't that how it's meant to be? NPCs were purple in the arcade.

I've never played multi-player in the arcade before. I have no friends.

                        Glad it's as intended however.

8 player Daytona in the arcades is literally the best thing ever! Had a few online races on this and it is fantastic, I even managed to win a couple of races despite being appalling at it!

I hope this does really well, would love to see Battle on the Edge and Scud Race eventually ported across.

Some of the critical Eurogamer comments are painful, especially the ones from people who clearly don't 'get' Sega arcade racers anyway. The comparisons with Uncharted 3's 8/10 is particularly facepalm-worthy - if I'm still replaying Uncharted 3 on a regular basis in 16 years time, feel free to correct me.

You may be replaying this 16 years later but then you are a massive fan and nostalgia is attached. If you take that away, the game feels dated, handling feels poor, the physics are non existant and the content is lacking. This game will get massive scores from people who played it back in the day. For everyone else, it is nothing more than a silly novelty.

Not saying it isn't a good game, I would love to play it with a wheel myself but for so many people it is extremely simplistic. It is very much a product of its time and personally it hasn't aged brilliantly.

Sega Rally on the other hand.

It's a timing game isn't it? So rather than constant adjustments, it's about about what moment and speed to to initiate drift. Whereas sega rally is about constant adjustment mid-drift.
