I'm going to stay away from the Zelda review till post-play through but the previews have mentioned some new mechanics which could prove interesting

      [QUOTE=gIzzE;1898670]A decent read??!!

Honestly, that Zelda review was exhausting to read. It was just a load of pretentious cobblers imho.
It sounds like it was written by a 10 year old with a thesaurus.
There were some good things to be said about the game you could see that, but the way it was written was awful.

lol - edge has always been like that; i've commented about there use of language several times. It seems to suck out all the fun from a game. Was zelda going to get anything less than a 10? They have obsessed over the franchise for years.....

Only Zelda they've given a ten is Ocarina of Time I believe, though I could be wrong.

Edit: Checked and it was right.

Yup, they do love Zelda but it's certainly not subject to the kind of salivating they give a number of other certain franchises

I beg to differ, EDGE have always given Zelda games really high marks when some of the Zelda offer little new in gameplay terms, in fact I find most of Zelda games to be overrated myself. I do find it funny that Uncharted III wasn't given a 10 as well though from EDGE more so if it's true about being better than Part II

That said it's nice to see Ace Combat get a good score from EDGE and other media

To be fair, I can't think of a publication that doesn't give Zelda's a high mark typically and they typically involve more ingenuity than the latest 9/10 Halo.

The theme with UC3 seems to be that the single player is better and so is the multiplayer but due to reviewers not being obsessed by the mp they've bringing the score a little down. Silly really.

Completely with you on Ace Combat

This seems the appropriate place to post this madness.

Makes the "Edge" threads here look completely reasonable and civilized.

Seriously though, what a bunch of bitchy nerds.

I don't know why you bang on about HALO that was 10/10 game imo , the rest in the series were marked too high though on that I agree . It's not that I dislike Zelda games but they were/are overrated and I don't really like games where you more or less have to cheat to get pass a puzzle and I found some of the puzzles in Zelda OTT to be just like that, I think the likes of GoldenEye 64, Rayman 64, Pilotwings 64 to be far more deserving of 10 score myself - I mean Pioltwings 64 is just about perfect in every way

but due to reviewers not being obsessed by the mp they've bringing the score a little down. Silly really.
Well that's just madness when to me multi-player is nothing more than an added bonus and it's always been about the single player game . I simple hate this craze to make down games for only being 8 hrs long or don't offer multi-player ECT

                      Videogame reviews - serious business.

TA - what puzzles did you have to 'cheat' to get past in OoT?

No doubt you laugh but I found the Deku Tree puzzles made no sense and had to use a guide

I seem to remember the 'light the torch' puzzles as being rather illogical, thankfully I believe that Skyward Sword doesn't have any nor does it have any 'push the box on the switch' moments. In the Deku Tree I loved jumping from up high to break through the big spider's web, now that was a decent puzzle!

There's always the usual degree of subjectiveness in these things as people have favoured series, games etc but can count the amount of issues EDGE doesn't wax on at some point about Halo. It might be 10/10 for you but for me it's possibly the single laziest series in gaming with little progression across it's instalments. But still different strokes and all that, personally all Zelda's have child-easy puzzles

There were too many times of OOT time were I was stumped for hours on end to be enjoyable , people may rave about point and click games but half the time in games like Monkey Island II, Discworld II ECT, even when you knew the answer with a cheat the puzzle made no sense -I don't enjoy that at all.

I think EDGE's review of Skyward Sword takes the pee- when they're seem to be reviewing the Japanese version of the game where the story and dialogue is lost and the puzzles must either be easy anyone can work them out or is fluent in Japanese .Then again, maybe it's EDGE doing its age style or either giving a game a massive score or the exact opposite and giving a game a low score To create talking points and get people talking about EDGE reviews
