One thing that's always bugged me about Gran Tourismo is the lack of any real sensation of speed.

Back when the first one came out everyone was raving about how it was the most realistic driving game eva!!1! and turning their noses up at arcadey stuff like Sega Rally and Ridge Racer. I always felt that, whilst they don't have the telemetry data of GT they do at least make you feel like you're driving fast and surely that is a big part of racing?

The Ps1 GT games are rapid.

I find it odd that people complain about the speed of the GT games, they are fast when you get to racing in the faster cars in the game. If it started you out in a clapped out second hand banger yet the game was as fast as wipeout it wouldn't make any sense really.

Yeah, when you get sick of driving a corsa in sim mode just have a break from it all, put arcade mode on and have some snow rally drives in an RS focus.

I always remember GT1 having a GTO Twin Turbo modified at over 1000 bhp

Maybe he played the game in third person view so to admire the car, but the perception of speed is different to that of the bumper/bonnet view?

All the games lack speed and imo Sega Rally had far better and more realistic physics than GT onthe PS

No its compared to other racers and you can play some of the faster cars straight away in Arcade/Rally mode. The game always lacked speed until part 5 imo

Gt5 feels the slowest to me. As for SR, it only really had one car in a race and physics for 2. Brilliant game mind.

Amazon have posted my game which I fortunately pre-ordered when it was ?35. Also had the Free First Class Postage promotion.

Had another email with my Promotional Codes for the game. There were three of them! Two of them for two of the special Car Packs and another to get a Million Credits for a head start with the game.

I wonder if the Royal Mail will come through and manage to get the game to me tomorrow/today.

I got the promotional codes too. Probably won't use them though, a million credits from the start is just plain cheating.

Here's the new intro for 6, and its a pure snoozathon, worst intro video in the entire series and looks like and advert for middle-aged business men and intellectuals, rather than a game for racing fans a petrol heads,http://www.computerandvideogames.com...opening-video/

Tried to get into GT5 again for about the 20th time and it's just a snooze fest. I will be await impressions to see if this manages to be better.
