No Pikmin 2? I bet the freaky albino Pikmin put you off

I can't speak for fatbatch but for me Pikmin is nice and concise and as the original holds the memories of how amazing the game(s) are. Pikmin 2 added some nice features and is obviously a longer game but I end up getting annoyed with the caves and still haven't completed it despite getting fairly far twice!

Zelda III: A Link to the Past
            Super Mario World
            Super Mario 64
            F-Zero X/GX (can't decide)
            Half Life
            Sim City
            Shenmue
            DoDonPachi
            R-Type
            Tetris (GB/NES)

Ha. No modern stuff at all, must've been a while since I truly enjoyed a game.

Demon's Souls will probably join them when I finish it. Choosing between Zelda III and IV is hard too, I should replay Link's Awakening at some point. Mario 64 was a large enough leap to warrant inclusion with Mario World preceding it. R-Type is a fairly late entry as I've only started to truly appreciate shooting games in the last couple of years and I'm awed by the almost perfect design that went into parts of it. Half Life was also chosen over HL2 on account of it having a tighter pace and no plodding around on beaches, trying to solve physics puzzles. Bubble Bobble was bubbling under too.

It's a perfect game for a handheld actually. I'd like an XBLA version at least.

I think the N64 is by far my favourite console of all time. August to December 1998 was simply too much for my pussy ass to handle. We also had Banjo and 1080 in that time frame. It went a bit quiet in 1999 with only Jet Force Gemini being stand-out IIRC but then it went out with a bang in 2000 with Majora's Mask, Ogre Battle 64, and Perfect Dark - then followed shortly after by Conker's Bad Fur Day. All games mentioned here are easily 10/10 standard.

                    ...

Then Microsoft bought Rareware and castrated them.

Not many people are putting up current gen titles. Is this because of nostalgia or are most current gen titles excellent but not quite 10s? Not to say there are a lack of quality games this gen as there are loads of cracking titles.

I'm more interested in clearing up a 16 year backlog via emulation whilst forcing myself to play SSF4 - which I can only describe as decidedly average (both the game and my skills). The only games I'm really craving to play are the ones totally off-limits to me at this moment in time (FFXIV/WoW/Starcraft2/Diablo3). Apart from the new Zelda, Dark/Demon Souls, and maybe Skyrim I'm quite happy to leave everything else. The only other facet that vaguely excites me is XBLA.

I reckon this gen has been a bit pish. the 360 and PS3 don't even feel like consoles to me, more like (weak) PCs in boxes. No genre or industry defining exclusives in my opinion. Everything's blue in this world.

My Wii still feels like a console.

I can't see myself playing anything from this gen in 10yrs time.

Good call on that , one of my favourite pinball games, and who doesn't love the fantastic amazing cheesy music and the dancing gators, id sometimes just turn it on and watch the intro.

To me, too soon to judge whether they truly stand up to the test of time and are worthy of being considered a ten still.
