I remember Fight Night Round 2 on the 'cube had a Pitbull Track on it - Back Up & it was awesome so I downloaded that.
Shame the rest of the stuff he put out is simply ****.

Other than that the only games I've found I've wanted to download songs from are the Gears or War Trailers...

Gears 2 -Devotchka "How it Ends"
Gears 3 - Mazzy Star "into Dust"
Gears 3 - HEron Blue "Sun Kill Moon"

Other than that I can't really think of many other songs that I had to download after playing the games.

The Midnight Club & Need For Speed series are both good for listening to though & with the right AV setup sound awesome.

No specific songs really but The Scott Pilgrim game introduced me to Anamanaguchi and chip tune music in general, which I actually like quite alot.

The only two that really spring to mind is Franz Ferdinand, after "Take Me Out" was on an old Madden game (I want to say 2005), and "All The Same" by Does It Offend You Yeah, which was on Criterion's NFS:HP.

I have never discovered anyone new from music in games but I have found I like a lot of songs by bands/acts I previously would not have listened too have grown on me.

Very rarely do I like anything on first listen and even bands/producers I like need repeated listens before they click with me.

Mainly Rock Band/GH really...though a FIFA game had a Kooks song I liked on it (sadly the album was unlistenable apart from that 1 song )

Main person to benefit is my housemate as I now moan far less at him constantly blasting Planet Rock around the place/in the car.

Yeah actually. Would never have found Anamanaguchi without that game.

Downloading the hell out of this right now.

I also freaking love the original Gran Turismo soundtrack (US/EU).

Pretty sure Freezepop only turned up on my radar due to Frequency. And GTA:SA inspired a greater interest in the joys of country.

For me, this is the best tune in a game that I had never heard before, loved it when the nephew got this for Christmas a few years back. Song is rarely off my iPod rock playlists now.

think this is probably the favourite of mine from a game

Franz Ferdinand from the Burnout games are definitely the most long standing ones of mine.

Avenged Sevenfold from Burnout and GH too get many hours of playtime in my car each week.

Fairly certain that the only musical discovery I've made through gaming has been Akira Yamaoka, but that's probably because I quite liked the musique concr?te style of industrial music at the time. I keep meaning to pick up the soundtracks but I never get around to it. Criminal really. I suppose that Boom Boom Satellites also qualify as I read a review of Out Loud in Edge and they were featured in Gran Turismo 2 and Ridge Racer 5.

Hah, I remember seeing Freezepop's rickety little MP3.com page back in 2001, when they were still composing most of their stuff on the Yamaha QY70. Seeing them take off has raised a smile, and I'm glad I saw the original line-up live when they played in London a few years ago.

Ahh Gran Turismo had some good EU soundtrack action, remember Loose Control by Ash always great driving away to that, Sweet 16 from Feeder and of course Garbage, always good.

For me Silent Hill 2 making me discover Akira Yamaoka after that it made me seek out the soundtracks. The man has done SO much music for so many games and in so many different styles, a great artist. iFuturelist is a good album too.

Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan introduced me to some great tracks and artists, specifically Tomoyasu Hotei "Thrill" oh and gives me an excuse to post this.

'Best ofs' are usually anything but. Try their Witching Hour album.

I generally displease of licensed soundtracks in games, as long as they are EA games.

Getting Dimmu Borgir instrumentals on board for Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet was a touch of genius however. I have been a fan for a while though.
