Just to add to the dodgyness, I just did a dummy pre-order (didn't put payment details in obviously) and that Funstock site doesn't even use https in any of the check-out/payment areas. Doesn't exactly inspire confidence. Says on the website they've been selling on Amazon and Play etc for several years and started their own website this year, but still.

I must admit i've went with amazon.com for a pre-order myself. ?208 for the LE pack, extra stick, shipping and customs as opposed to ?185 delivered just for the LE pack from Funstock. I can't see the additional sticks being less than the ?23 i'm paying on top of that.

Just done the same, for someone who has never owned a Neo Geo of any kind I am quite excited now.

It does say pre-order in the title, is secured via Sage Pay. I'm pretty sure credit card fraud protection will cover it if they are cowboys anyway.

I wish they would be more open about what they plan to do. I know they want to test the waters before committing to anything but surely announcing some extra game packs wouldn't hurt. I want to know if the system would be able to run later titles like Garou and such before i will put down that sort of money for just a small set of games. Also, are the games AES versions of just straight arcade ones?

Don't know if it's fully analogue.. (that would be dumb if it was) but I think they're trying to go for the feel of their last handheld systems which also had analogue-like sticks instead of d-pads..

GP2X had one also if I remember correctly..

Edit: Neo Geo CD pads also had them, so looks like its neogeo standard!

This has to be one of the most cynical hardware releases of all time. I wish I could figure out how to put a cheap chinese handheld emu box in a slick little enclosure and sell it for ?200. To people who already own all of the games on it anyway. And then sell them more games they already own.

I can understand the appeal but don't you all feel like you're being a bit ripped off? Taken for mugs? It's designed to replicate the glamour of the AES, but it's just an illusion really.
