Well it is official hardware by SNK themselves emulation or not, so I wouldn't say its an illusion. Plus you have to give it them some credit for the arcade sticks which are exact replicas!

To be fair someone taking a **** on your mother's face and charging you for the privilege would be better than Declassified. At least I'm returning it today.

It's what put me in mind of the NGX though lol. This system is just such a rip-off. They're charging you lots of money for an emu box, and then charging you for the ROMs. The association with the original AES is really quite fraudulent - the hardware is totally unrelated to it, and the SNK of today is basically completely unrelated to the SNK of the 90s. They're cashing in on your brand loyalty and nostalgia in a very cynical way indeed. I don't know, it just wouldn't sit right with me if I bought one.

Yeah but SNK today is not SNK of the 90s. Like what games have they made recently? They're just a bunch of business people who own a bunch of licenses and know there's a hardcore old-school following who are now of a mature age and willing to spend big bucks - especially as many of them would've been kids at the time, unable to afford the original hardware. It's a decision made without a love of the games or the fans, just a desire to cash in as effectively as possible! Nothing morally wrong with that but it wouldn't make me feel good as a buyer.

I'm not giving them any credit for accurately reproducing a peripheral which came out in 1991 lol. It's not a long lost artifact, they've probably still got the same facking moulds. And they released ones for the Wii and PS2. They're churning this stuff out left right and centre!

Well, yes. The NGPC has a stick but it's digital. Reports I've seen on the web state that the X has an analog stick. That is surely just someone's mistake, right?

Yes mistake. It's a digital thumb stick, not analog. Screen size is selectable, you can put it into 4:3 mode if you wish.

That's the thing though - it's really not by SNK. SNK Playmore have just given Blaze and Tommo the licence to stick their logo on the thing. Similar to how the recent Megadrive handheld devices by Blaze are nothing to do with Sega aside from the licence.

Don't get me wrong, I'm really not trying to be 'that guy' who has to be cynical towards something that other people are looking forward to. But we read people all the time saying that emulation 'just doesn't feel right'. Yet stick an official logo on the thing, or throw it up on XBLA for ?5 and suddenly it's different.

I think it looks nice, I love how much they have tried to please old fans of the Neo, but personally I just don't see it being relevant these days. I think I will just hang on to my memories of how awesome it was to own the original hardware back in the day

Hmm, the answer to question 11 is pretty interesting...

                    11) question :Will we have access to the internal memory of the console? PC connection is it possible?

Answer: The internal memory of the console will not be accessible by player who do not speak perfectly or computer programming. The console works like a psp.It is possible to load it onto PC via standard USB (same type of cables as cameras), and fill The SD card that you can insert standard for back up and other

What could this mean I wonder????

Hmm, the original French is just as vague as the translation really. He says the internal memory won't be accessible to people who can't programme, but then he does say you can connect it to a PC and fill up the SD card, which is used for saves and 'other things', whatever that might mean. Saying that, the internal memory isn't the same as an SD card, so I don't quite see what he's getting at there. If it is like a PSP though, as he says, it'll be cracked fairly quickly surely?

They seem to have a lot of bad reviews, have you used them before?

I'm definitely importing now. I can't be dealing with a World Bios, though I fear even the JPN unit will be running English titles.
                            Kept you waiting, huh?

I think i've just had a rare moment of clarity, and i've cancelled my pre-order. I think this will be a fantastic thing if you don't already have a NEO, but since I do and a pretty big games collection to boot, probably fairly pointless for me.
