Unlike half of the forum these days I still love 'em dearly, but Capcom are getting a bit silly with their fighters lately. They blame poor SFxT sales on an over-saturated market, then within a couple of months have MvC Origins and Jojo's Bizarre Adventure lined up for release and hint at a new Darkstalkers. I'll be buying them all, but I don't think they can count on many others doing the same. There's certainly not enough time for people to properly learn each of these games.

Yeah, because the CPS2 Capcom games look SOOOOOOO different don't they.

I don't really care for Darkstalkers myself as only a few characters appeal to me (Morrigon, Lilith..) but I'd welcome another title.

Just because it's the same engine doesn't automatically mean all Capcom fighters running on it will look the same - I'm sure Capcom will manage that regardless of the engine

But seriously, I think a lot of the sameness is naturally down to the characters being the same across the games(SF chars in SFxT basically being the SF4 models). Darkstalkers is entirely different so they can go a bit nuts with it.

Also, I can't call SF4 onwards bland so I'm hoping this Darkstalkers will have lots of colourful eyecandy.

I think it's good to release lots if fighters are getting released. No one has to bu them all, and surely there is something for all fans of fighters now. I don't like the way Capcom are overcharging on content etc, but I do welcome the volume of different releases.

Just don't buy the extra content if you don't like it is how I see it. You don't have to and it takes nothing away from the game.

On the subject of additional content it's taking the piss if (like SFXT) it's already on the disc. They are essentially charging half again to own the complete game as it was meant to be.

                Yeah, that's the worst kind.

If I'd cared for that game I may have been annoyed.

That's why I bought it off you. I figure IF I do end up buying the additional content, Capcom will get the least amount of money from me possibile. I usually buy all Capcom fighters near release, but they lost my loyalty with that one.

I'm still umming and ahhing over SFxT. I was hoping watching the Evo 2012 finals would persuade me but that didn't happen, it just made me wanna play SSF4AE again.

So far I'm doing ok but will probably pick it up sooner or later. Maybe when the evil DLC is released so I can be Alisa

I'm sick of the sf4 look.....at least in the 2d days games could look drastically different, thanks to the hand drawn sprites.

Its just lacking soul....then again it is street fighter only on this engine at present...

Hopefully darkstalkers will provide the much needed change.

I think its about time capcom took the opportunity to create a high res 2d fighter. Darkstalkers would have been my dream fighter in high res 2d.

I don't think the SF4 look lacks soul at all. I think it looks excellent and flows amazingly well.

Glad you enjoy it, give me zero 3/vapire saviour/3rd strike sprites any day.

They were hand drawn/animated and if only for these reasons, have more soul than sf4 can ever hope for with its bugs bunny teeth, and massive stylised computer models. I'm not saying there isnt some imagination on display, but it cannot compare.

So anything that isn't hand drawn has no soul? eg Pixar films?

                              Not everything in fighting games.......

Pixar/disney is another story.....although i'd argue that some cg animated films are indeed soulless, or at least compared to the beautifully hand drawn films of the same nature.

The ps3 ghibli collaboration for example will be fantastic no doubt, but wont have the soul of their 2d animated films...that comparison with games isnt really fair.

Each to his own I guess, but I personally think SFIV looks superb. Same goes for MvC3. SFxT doesn't look so great, admittedly, but I can't put my finger on why exactly. Bit too garish perhaps, but then MvC3 isn't exactly the height of subtle artistry

For me, there is a place for 3D modelled stuff as well as 2D pixel stuff. A hand-drawn 2D Darkstalkers would be excellent, but I see no reason why an SF4 engine Darkstalkers can't be.

I'm probably on my own with this on this forum, but I think SSFIV:AE might just be the greatest of all the SF games. It's certainly the most balanced and I love the fact that it is built on the fundamentals of SF where the focus is on spacing, footsies, zoning and so on, but still allows some creativity with FADCs and some good combo opportunities.

                                *hides*
