I've been pretty desensitised to the whole affair despite watching the drama unfold on Eurogamer but seeing the message on the Game website made me quite sad.

All the best to their staff, dicks and otherwise.

I guess anyone who bought a digital game from the Game website is screwed now. There's a lesson to be learnt here.

The downloads site is still functioning.

The Sheffield city centre store was closed with a hand written sign saying 'GAME over man!'

Big props to whoever still had the good humour to put that up.

Should have followed that up with a sign over the letterbox saying "insert coin to continue".

Thoughts are with any forumites who've been hit by all this.

Yep, I'm sure many of us have had the threat of redundancy looming over us and it's not a nice place to be. Hope it works out for the Game staff forumites.

GAME has suspended the Rewards programme for the most part, click and collect, returns, refunds and any money paid for pre-orders cannot be refunded. Anything further on these will have to wait till post-restructure.
Goddammit! Gamestation sent me a Pokemon Black box/manual with the bloody SoulSilver cart inside, which I already own was going to return it but glad I didn't send it off now....

Still, turns out "JOE" had some pretty immense Pokemon which are now on my version of the game

Shopto have pulled an interesting move - they're offering ?3 for any new customers who send them their GAME reward cards.....

At least 5 stores around here that I know have all closed today. Never got to say a final goodbye to the store i once worked in

Seems the two nearest me have shut, although I didn't see Kingston in the list, so maybe that's still open...

Just like to add my condolences to all the sales staff that are going to loose their jobs over this.

There probably isn't a UK gamer who hasn't had some dealings with GAME in the past. My fondest memory is standing in the doorway with 10 other 20 somethings open mouthed watching WipEout on a projection TV set in Sep 1995 in Meadowhall Sheff.

I find it hard to believe that nobody could come up with some kind of strategy to stop this happening. I guess the truth will suface in the next few weeks...

Fondest memory of Game -me and my mate outside the store from 7.00 am for our copy of MGS2 on release day, the manager was so impressed/saddened/frightened that he opened the store early for us.

The same manager did the same thing when FFX came out for us.

When that manager left/fired the store wasn't the same!

Worst memory of Game - got speaking to a guy working there when I was early teens, he found out I had a US copy of Brave Fencer Musashi and obviously thought I was a gimp, as he was trying to convince me to trade me his copied version of Rainbox Six on PS1 for it...

Wouldn't leave me alone and Had to leave the store...

I imagine a staggering number of us here have probably worked in a GAME or Gamestation at some point, it really is sad to see them go.

I remember going into the stores in Norwich and staring at the ?49.99 N64 games that I could only ever obtain as a Birthday or Christmas gift.
