Such a pleasant memory.

I can't see how they can afford to run both when there is a CEX further up the high street which seems to be doing more trade in business.

I think this is the right thing for Game going forwards though, the amount of shops was insane to be blunt even after culling some last year. Hopefully this will mean they will rethink their strategy and become places Gamers want to shop again. I was really sad to see Gameplay go as they where really good prior to getting taken over by Game. They don't need hard sell sales people but they do need to do what Gamestation and in theory Game was meant to do provide good information to customers about purchases and offer competitive prices where they can.

teddy, i'm in a spookily similar position to you, was Game only for 10 years, and got switched to GS in november, and my store stayed open out of the 3 in my town (2 games, 1 gs), in my time there i've made many friends who've lost their job today through no fault of their own, finding it hard to feel happy that i'm 'safe' considering this, a feeling i've never experienced before and don't want to again.

My mistake. I've been informed by a friend who worked there that is indeed closed.
It gets worse, it seems =/ http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/irish...dispute/093375

I remember game mostly from the playstation days as a friend of mine got a job there while at college, (leed city center) he Always used to get new releases on a Wednesday on product loan. Which reminds me of a funny story
When tomb raider first came out the virgin megastore in Leeds was running a compertition to see who could get through a certain section of the game the fastest, my friend who had two days play under his belt thought he could win it easily, and he smashed the compertition and secured a place in the final. The first prize was a copy of the game and a ps1 I think. on his return later in the day it turned out the final had been played out an hour earlier than he had been told and some kid had won it. They offered him a free copy of the game but he was really pissed off. I reckon they clocked him as a game employee and had told him the later time on purpose, its true cheaters never prosper but sometimes they get free promo copies of games.
The leeds store was a great store His manager sorted me out with a load of free Saturn stuff too when I picked one up cheap as they had a cupboard full of promos and demos. I rember my teenage self having a job interview there with the then area manager (a greasy bolding arse who spent my entire interview looking out the window and ignoring me) the stupid thing was I dident really need the job as I was already working elsewhere for better money! but i really fancied the perks of working for game as that was where all my wages went lol.

seems my favourite gamestation in glasgow is the only store to survive, there must be a god after all, and good luck to everybody not so lucky.
