I bought 7 games from them during their "Spring Clean" and now the prices are back to what they were prior to that.

As has been said, they have learnt nothing.

I did the same, I bought a bunch of ****e games in their fire sale then traded them in for more than I paid. I
      Mean. Wtf

I was considering coming back to this thread to provide some sort of update, from an internal point of view, not much has changed sadly, except they've bumped all our targets up a ridiculous amount as if we're expected to still hit like for like or nearabouts even though we're down 277 stores, i'm glad to still be in a job, but there's more pressure to sell now, and they just don't understand a lot of customers have lost confidence in us and aren't coming back.

Nope this is the sad thing, its putting remaining jobs on the line but it happens everywhere. Management become deluded and cannot see past their own corporate BS. I dare say that they absolutely believe this is the correct course of actions and fortunes will soon change - preowned and hard sell will win.

I walk into their stores and they are barren and lifeless now. The CEX stores in comparison are buzzing, busier than ever with loads of stock on all formats at often lower prices.

            Baffling really.

My local CeX tends to get new stock in these days too, indeed I think more and more of them are even if it's just a few copies as people are then happy to pay the ?45 or whatever, particularly given their usually highish trade in prices.

I haven't been in a GAME more than twice since the administration - every time I walk past it looks just as nakamura and others have described - like zavvi after eUK went bust!

I asked if there was any jobs in the Kingston GAME store today. There were 3 staff members and nobody else in the store.

CeX was pretty quiet too mind, but it's not normally.

booth: As a "man on the ground", what would be your immediate changes to kickstart things in your shop and then what would your longer term plans be?

I thought GAME were bringing back on old head management guy in order to turn things around & change/kick start the company?

                    What happened?

As a related question to Game staff members, who is in operational control of the company at the moment? I can't seem to find definitive information on whether anyone outside of the old CEO has been replaced yet. If not it might explain the apparent lack of change in approach seen so far.

Yes, Martyn Gibbs returned in April. After parting with GAME last year, he 'popped back' to hmv (where he was previously employed for 3 years) for a brief period this year in a consultation role.... even gave a presentation around 'how to increase market share' (at GAME's expense) and has now gone back to work for them.

Theres an advert for a store manager here with a huge ?1 salary per annum. obviously times are still tough.

Does that mean I can buy myself some retail managers?

I'm glad somebody revived this thread, gives me a good opportunity to post a picture of GAME in Sweden. It doesn't look like the Swedish were happy with the closure of game.

I was in blackburn (i think) recently and someone had written "over" under all the GAME signs after it closed. Quite canny thinking really!
