      WHAT??

Sega Rally on the Saturn handles brilliantly, possibley the best any racing game has and will ever feel to play on a pad. The XBLA Sega Rally has nothing like the same handling model, and it doesnt even handle that well for that matter.

I only have a hazy recollection of the Saturn version and Arcade, but the XBLA version doesn't seem right to me either.

Guys, anyone got any recommendations for racing games on iPad? Preferably arcade style racing games rather than sims. Ta!

All my favourites have already been mentioned, however F-Zero GX (GCN) is probably my all time favourite.

Asphalt 6 is great fun and has nice graphics, Fast Five plays a good game too though it looks a bit ming on iPad 1, i understand it's optimised for later models.

Race After 1977 is a reasonable post apocalyptic effort.

Asphault 6 is pretty good, especially seeing as its a game that Gameloft often put on sale or give away free.

If you like Outrun then Final Freeway 2 is a must have, as it basically IS outrun.

There are quite a few decent top down racers on the app store, the best of which has to be the reckless racing series, absolubtley fantastic games in the style of super skidmarks/ironman offroad racing.

Reckless Getaway is also kinda part of the same series but is more of an arcadey chase game where you have to avoid the police or take down bank robbers depending on which mode you pick.

Also have to recommend Draw Race 2, it's a traditional racing game but uses very untraditional line drawing mechanics and works brilliantly.

The best Racing Game on the app store is probabaly Real Racing2 though, but that's a sim and you said you don't want that.

Little Racers: STREET on XBOX Live Arcade is really good, Micro Machines-style fun.

                    It's only 80 points too!

I found myself playing it late into the night doing just one more race and then just one more upgrade then just one more reward level.

Very true . SEGA Rally Revo and Arcade handling nothing like Rally and worse still play noting like Rally .

+1 for NFS Hot Pursuit but for online you need the latest DLC as it adds two modes online which are amazing fun... Most Wanted and Arms Race.

Also really love PGR4. Amazing in-car view, variable weather conditions and the inclusion of bikes v cars along with a tonne of tracks.

Old School... Pretty much all I can think of has already been mentioned.

Meh - I've played them back-to-back and Rally Arcade plays pretty well to me.

V Rally 2 on Playstation stands out for me as being pretty cool.
                              Motorhead too.

Shutokou Battle 2 for Dreamcast (It probably has sequels/ports on other consoles too?) but that game is the only racer I like beside Mario Kart. Definite recommendation.
