    6/10 on Edge.

Asks if the game is actually fun despite the amount of stuff you have to use.

That's pretty much how I felt about the first game, you get all these super powers, but nothing designed to encourage you to use them. At least in Crysis 2 there were stealth sections.

Yes, never quite understood that. You had all these abilities like 'maximum strength', which allowed you to jump super high in the air but the terrain was mostly flat so it was pointless - barely anything to climb.

Slight aside, but I see they've changed the voice actor who played Psycho in the original. Does he appear in the second as the original voice actor? still yet to play through Crysis 2.

You play as him in the Crysis 1 expansion Warhead.

It's a shame about the Edge review but I'm not surprised in any way to be honest and for me teh review would be close to identical for the other two games.

I'm a big FPS and every time a Crytek game is announced they promise so much but for me the first two were OK and nothing more. neither were bad games as such and I did quite enjoyed them both but neither was anywhere close to being "the game of the year" that some expected.

I think they're a far better technology company than they are a games company.

I would like to give it a go sometime but I think I'll wait until it's hit the bargain bins.

maximum strength didnt just allow for higher leaps, it also steadied your hand when aiming and such, increased your throw range on grenades and objects.
Crysis 1 was incredibly complex if you desired it. You could utilize the suit for tons of possibilities.

I thought both the first and Warhead were awesome games and I'm playing through Crysis 2 now and finding it pretty enjoyable. Did seem like there was more to play with in the first games though. And, as I said in the Crysis 2 thread, I was fairly stunned they didn't try to put more character in there given that Warhead seemed to show they saw that as a weakness in the first.

But I agree with Largo - there was loads to do with the suit in the first one.

All I saw in the above video was tons of shooting and that's Crysis all round.
Oh that alongside some punching and kicking of the face and sticking C4 to explosive barrels, all incredibly complex stuff.
Not that I don't enjoy all that shootbang ****, I will be all over Crysis 3 when it hits.

Hmm maybe i got a bit carried away calling it incredibly complex,

Anyway im a big fan of the series so looking forward to 3 too

They removed the power throw in Crysis 2 though, which was my favorite bit of the power mode.

Good vid, but there's no way in hell those are the original hit boxes - tons of mods at play there. Not to mention the ai seems almost backwards at times; which I don't recall being quite that bad.

Point taken though, I'd totally forgotten about chucking soldiers miles across the map with the strength ability. xD

The combat does have a fair bit of depth for a pure fps. I tend to think you were funneled towards playing the first in a stealthy manner though.

I can't honestly remember but it feels like the enemies got way more stupid in Crysis 2. And unrealistic - they seem to spot you in bushes from a mile away. I played the first one almost completely with stealth so got pretty used to how that worked and it just doesn't work the same way in 2. But then they spot you and you can watch as they blow each other up with grenades.

Although I have often thought AI is a matter of perception and situation. Catch them doing one stupid thing and it will taint how you view their actions. But they could do something mindless that would have happened anywhere but, in context of where they are, it looks like there is sense to it.

The chap/player nanosuitninja has some other great videos where he showcases the AI. I believe the only mod he's using is err ... ok trying to remember, epsilon difficulty or something like that.

Anyway hes now working for crytek doing the crysis 3 showcase plays in the trailers. He's a good chap, check out his youtube channel ho ho ho and im not even getting paid to say this!

Heres a vid of him showcasing the stealth mechanics in cry1 + narration, probably NSFW language.

                                Impressive stuff!

I didn't even know there were stun darts in the game! Think I posted in the original Crysis thread about these elements being a bit hidden. I remember there being an alternate fire mode for all the guns which was a total game changer, but it's never mentioned and I only found it by chance on my second playthrough.

I think the issue with the AI seeing you from miles away has been there since Crytek originally developed the first Far Cry. Disappointed to read they didn't sort it in 2 as it was considerably better by the first Crysis.

I remember the AI breaking in some parts on my original playthrough. If you run into the water and the soldiers follow you they'll end up drowning as soon as they hit the water. Game breaking but amusing.
