    E3 2012

I know! It seems early (though later than previous years) but that's how the industry works with tidbits starting to fall from inder the hemlines of the big 3's skirts in the run up to the major games exhibition.

In the last couple of days have seen Miyamoto tell us of Pikmin 2 and Mario for Wii U
Find in-depth gaming news and hands-on reviews of the latest video games, video consoles and accessories.

Sony and Microsoft have also confirmed their keynotes, joined soon after by EA and the ever random Konami. Nintendo yet to announce.

Game Informer is your source for the latest in video game news, reviews, previews, podcasts, and features.

    Monday, June 4

    Microsoft - 9:30 AM

    Electronic Arts - 1:00 PM

    Ubisoft - 3:00 PM

    Sony - 6:00 PM

    Tuesday, June 5

    TBD

As news comes in relating to E3 itself, the games revealed there and possible announcements I'll post them in this thread rather than clutter the Headlines board with 500 E3 related posts.

Last year saw the muddled reveal of the WiiU, the 3DS gagging for air, the Vita wow, Sony be apologetic and Microsoft promise more Halo. This year MS and Sony have already ruled out new console reveals.

    What will this year bring?

    What will this year bring?
    Nintendo:
    WiiU - Hardware & Software
3DS - Hardware revision (bigger screen , dual analogues), Games (hopefully)

    Sony:
PSV - Software (Hopefully - No reason to buy one at the moment)
PS3 - Don't really care anymore, cant see anything coming that I am bothered about.

    Microsoft:
More Kinect crap that nobody wants & Video services not available in the UK & Halo 4

That pretty much sums up what I am expecting, unless both Sony & M$ are trying to out bluff each other, we won't see anything other than the above, anything else is a bonus really. A couple of next gen tech demos will probably make an appearance, but otherwise I doubt we will see anything else.

It's all on Nintendo this year but I suspect they will either cripple the WiiU hardware, have no decent launch games or will somehow manager to screw the EU up again. Wouldn't surprise me if its all three but at least should be some games we dont about that will come as a surprise.

Really not expecting much from this years show in all honesty, its going to be rather a drab affair unless Nintendo pulls it out of the bag.

I expect lots of console/PC FPS reveals.

...and even more Action RPGs, we seem to be getting saturated with those as of late, I wonder why?

The Wii-U hardware is already crippled isn't it? Developer reports state it's not as powerful as a PS3 or Xbox.

If you take away that controller then what you have is a console that's 5 or 6 years late to market. Given that, in order to impress Ninty are gonna show games that are based around that controller aren't they? Or will it just be "hey! All your fave ninty characters are ow in HD!"?

I suspect at least one game on the Wii-U will involve tossing characters between the screen of the Controller and the TV. Miyoto might even demo it with the boundless joy he has.

Pikmin Tossing Is the most likely scenario.

That would be amazing, Pikmin on the controller screen and you just flick them into the main screen... I swear no-one in the history of gaming has been as excited for a game as I am for Pikmin 3... xD

As for E3 I'm actually going to watch the stream of the Nintendo event live with snacks As long as I see Pikmin 3 and the console's release date/price/user interface etc I'll be happy. I'm really hoping Virtual Console gets a big relaunch. This time with games organized under console icons (i.e. SNES/N64) and in full HD upscale treatment... I'd also love to see more little touches like the Mario downloading screen on the Wii Store.

Outside of Nintendo there's not a lot I'm bothered about I'd be interested in a couple of games if they came to Wii U (Bioshock Infinite, a Street Fighter, Ni no Kuni, the Jet Set Radio that's on PSN/Xbox Live) but all are probably unlikely, as are hopes of a Mirror's Edge sequel... Mirror's Edge being my all-time fave non-Nintendo game...

I did really like Mirrors Edge but damn that game was frustrating...

I'm all up for Pikmin 3 but was hoping for a 3DS Pikmin too (Pikmin 3DS?) and an f zero or two would be awesome. Perhaps a Donkey Kong Country 3DS? In all honesty I've waited far too long for Pikmin 3 and am much less excited for it than I would have been had it been released several years ago. I still remember getting the original Pikmin for ?20 in Virgin with a voucher I had received for Christmas and being absolutely taken away with it from the moment I started playing. For a time it was my favourite game ever, but yeah it's been too long now.

I'm not certain we will see a 3DS lite just yet, really I hope to God we don't as mine just hasn't had the use it should have for the ?200+ it cost... In many ways I'd much prefer Nintendo to present some awesomely strong 3DS games at E3 and completely forget about the Wii U, it just doesn't really excite me. Then again perhaps a strong Wii U showing will convert me and install that magical new Nintendo console feeling finally.

Outside of Nintendo I'm not hugely interested in much. Maybe the new Tomb Raider from last E3 and some info on the PS4/ new xbox? Although I do play new games on the PS3 I'm never that excited about them, I'll just buy them when they're cheap and play through when I feel like it unlike years ago when I would ogle over screenshots of GC and GBA games in magazines...

Apart from the Wii-U, I'm interested to see some Brothers in Arms gameplay footage. Maybe a trailer for Duke Nukem Begins - the one Gearbox has been working on. Command and Conquer Generals also interests me.

Yeah, some Tomb Raider gameplay footage would be nice. There's a lot of negativity surrounding Tomb Raider but I thought the last one (Underworld) was a return to form.

Jack Tretton walks out on stage and says "Yo check this out. We gots what you need, a real game for the True Believers."

Lights fade, a cup of coffee comes on screen and the swirling coffee eventually forms the shape of FK.

Swery 65 punches through a wall and shows off Deadly Premonition Redux, gets a standing ovation and Kevin Butler cries with joy.

As always, Nintendo are my focus at E3. The Wii-U has been off my radar since its piss-poor introduction last year, but a stunning new HD Metroid/Starfox/F-Zero is all it needs for me to purchase on Day 1.

I also hope to see if Platinum Games' offerings have the potential to match their previous masterpieces of Bayonetta and Vanquish.

Edit - I also want to see Miyamoto onstage with his sword & shield once again:

                          That's the one.

I also predict shaking things out of trees with the Wii-U
