I'm gonna download the trial to see what it's like in person but reading about it over the last year or two always put it across as a 3D title in the style of the soulless social gaming generation horde we've been inflicted with this gen. All 'social sharing', no gameplay.

I haven't played it much myself, but I don't think it's right to call the game soulless just because it doesn't really have predefined characters, strict objectives or a prescribed storyline. I heard someone say once that a game is an incomplete experience - enjoying it is half about the gameplay, and half about imagination. Unless I've missed the point completely, it seems to me like minecraft gives you the world and the 'physics' if you like (including the circuits mentioned earlier), and adds an element of danger and survival... and you can then enjoy this world with your friends and have a jolly good adventure, or just play lego if you want
