I tried to run the demo on an older computer running XP. It wouldn't work though. The readme file said to run verison 1.01 instead. Only that file isn't present. Ah well. My bro has a new laptop from work so I'll see if I can borrow his old one.

Good to read that the game will ship in April hopefully it's pretty much feature complete and just being fine tuned based on feedback from the demo.

Got a mail today asking to check address and e-mail because Redux regular edition will ship in "December 2013". Curiously enough I never had Redux on order, but Ghost Blade instead. Oh well.

                    Update.

Project Update #19: Redux: Dark Matters finally coming to Dreamcast in January 2014
                    Dear backers and fans,
At this point we'd like to apologize for the recent lack of communication and for the delays, but we found it was smarter to make the game as polished as possible and not to rush things out. The beta testing phase of Redux was quite time consuming but we think the Beta testers did a great job.
However, today we're proud to announce that Redux: Dark Matters has gone gold! The game will finally come to Dreamcast in January 2014.
Finally the wait is over! We hope you will love your reward as much as we loved to develop this game.
Last but not least: We'll request your shipping address data in end december from you. There's no need to let us know your shipping address before we send the shipping data request survey.
                    Thank you.

It's arrived. And it's very fuzzy. Dux 1.5 looks lovely but Redux looks terrible. I don't own the original version of Dux so I cannot comment on any changes. Redux does seem to be pretty much the same game as Dux 1.5 but with more detailed animated backgrounds and a quarter of the resolution.
Dux 1.5 seems quite playable. It has that kind of chunky oversized sprite feel of old lower resolution arcade ports on the PC Engine. I like the bullet sweeping technique as well.

I emailed Hucast and received this reply

                              "Hi Craig,

we had discussed this on Facebook. Redux does not looks as clean as DUX 1.5 since we used compression method to fit the Game into Dreamcast vram.
I'm sorry though that you dont like the result.

The game looks best with VGA box if that helps you.

                              -Hucast"

I don't have a monitor near the DC just now to try I but I can only imagine it will look worse over VGA.
