Do you still use Akira or have you abandoned him for Goh?

My mate here (coming up to Japanese tournament standard) is a wicked Jacky player, but hes just started training up his Goh as well as Wolf.

I`m going to stick with Pai for now- I`ve got her basics down at least, just need to expand on my combos and better timing (as well as perfect the sidesteps and countering throws- both of these are still weak in my game).

      HEAVY!

Yeah man! That sounds wicked - I want to proper train up on EVO with various heads this time (not just Akira). I want Vanessa, Wolf (sorry bruv, when I see "Rock Bottom" I had to get involved ), Goh and Jacky too.

        mate

The game is tooooooooooo deep. Did you see that your stance (whether your character is leading with the left foot or right foot) can fundamentally affect your combos, as well as evades? Good players will always take into account the stance of their opponent in evading moves properly.

yeah the good old open and closed stance also affects throw range, hard to pick these things upat speed though, need more practise practise practise...

            Yeah Allan

I still use Akira cos Nu Skool Akira IS DA ****! - I cannot believe the **** this brer comes out with, it's just shocking. I have a video of my friend Gavin bussing a 9 hitter (on normal play NOT hyper mode) you HAVE TO see it!

Apart from Akira I have been training up with Goh, but the whole psychology of it is a bit of a killer. The fact that he can connect sickness after ANY counterhit is just leaves me baffed cos I have like 4 or 5 different setups going thorugh my head for each situation and my style is just muddled and fu><><3d - I'll get there hopefully, cos he's such a wicked character!

Want to re-train with Nu Jacky, I found him a bit boring before but now he's just unbelieve - and Oliver PROPER inspired me to start with Wolf cos he blatantly beats the hell out of Japanese girls, dragging them up escalators going the wrong way unprovoked.

Lol Saur you crack me up man

Good site with forums is www.virtuafighter.com

Their media forum contains some very good versus vid matches from top Jap players. Great to watch.

This is what I liked about the original VF4 so much and why I feel so disappointed when I play Soul Caliber 2 or DOA 2 as the AI in those games is quite frankly tragic

I heard they changed Jacky around alot. His ->k floater is gone altogether. Have they replaced it with anything decent? I never liked his other ones. Couldn't chain them with much.

VF4 is nice, but scary. So much to learn. I'm still stuck trying to get to the higher Dans in Kumite mode. Evo's new AI is going to beat the **** out of me.

Yep- Jacky has been changed round a fair bit. He has been toned down and isn`t quite as strong as he was in VF4.

My VF4 Evo. review should be up on the site sometime later on this week

And yes, I have to admit, this is a better game than Soul Calibur 2 (and Cali is my most played game of all time).

To be fair, the Soul Cali 2 AI on ultra hard level (2nd hardest setting) isn`t bad at all. A long way from perfect, but it provides a decent and fairly realistic challnge for any advanced players of the game.

Isn't that only because it has superhuman reflexes? I often wonder in fighting games can the computer tell what move you've inputted the second you hit the button. In King of the Fighters on level 8 difficulty it often feels that way.

I often think of the Half Life bots I downloaded once. If you were shooting them in the back they could do 180 degree turns and shoot you in the head in a 1/4 of a second.

hhhmmm- well on the very hardest setting on Soul Cali 2, the computer is blatantly `cheating` by having ridiculously perfect parrying powers. Ultra hard setting on the other hand gives a fairly realistic setting for expert/advanced players (and I should know, as I would consider myself in this category ).

Stroppa- I`m keeping mum on the score for this one I`m afraid

                              Jacky is sick man!

He hasnt been toned down at all - his style is now pure Jeet Kune Do, he's much more mobile and has a new launcher (33+K) - the old command (6+K) has been changed to a very fast straight kick which is wicked for scoring counterhits with. He has much more variety in his punch and kick chains too.

I think it's playas who dont understand Nu Skool Jacky yet who complain he's toned down - nah man, it's the best Jacky yet (in fact you know all that **** before EVO? That wasnt true Jacky, that was just some cheap back-up dancer)

Hmm I was thinking of training up on jeet kune do, plus jacky is easier to play on stick than others, no circular motions I've had to use my stick taped to a table(foldaway) so the damn thing dosn't slide all other the place when I'm going for them circular throws!
