Castlevania: Mirror of Fate - 3DS

Nintendo Power magazine has a couple of screens of this:

Looks like an isometric 3D adventure to me but could be wrong. Not sure what to think of that if that is indeed the case. If its full 3D then fine, but personally I think I would rather have the 3D set to the 2D plain instead of the forced isometric view. I can't see the game play working very well at that angle.

    Discuss.

    I thought this was a 2d sidescroller?

The screens suggest otherwise , unless there are two games in the works

Those pics look like the game takes place on a 2D plane but with different camera angles.

That right side image looks very cool. As for the type of game, no idea! Side scrolling with angles would be ok.

All the previous rumours on the title have been focused on it being 2D, it likely is, the pitched camera angles letting the system show off the 3D effect.

This is out in a month, yet no one has talked about it since May last year, is no one interested?

Apparently it isn't metroidvania... But it is a 2d sidescroller, with a 3d graphics engine.

It's part of the lords of shadow series though, which puts me off a bit.

I played it at last year's E3 and it was an absolute mess at that point - it didn't look very nice at all, and the part of the game they threw you into wasn't fun either. I'd be surprised if a lot of the flaws haven't been ironed out, but I'm still not expecting much. The 'Lords of Shadow' association isn't great news for me either, but that being said I didn't like the last DS game much either.

Most of the previews that have been played by various websites sound promising I hope its great example of the castlevania series.

Yeah the psp rondo remake imo was fantastic, and if its that kind of game/quality then great.....but thats just it, rondo was sublime to start with.

Who knows with konami these days.

According to the developer it's not metroidvania, but it does have a focus on exploration... Whatever that means.

I really want it to be good, I love all the GBA and DS games. But those are proper Castlevania games not part of the Lords of Shadow series, which simply is not Castlevania to me.

Lords of Shadow was a proper game. It was setup with levels exactly like Super Castlevania IV and several of the early 8 and 16bit games.
