    Cataloguing our neglect

This is the thread for all the games you regret never giving the love you feel they deserved. The games left unfinished because you moved on to something else, lost the motivation due to a difficult part or simply forgot about. Why did you abandon them? How much do you regret leaving them behind? Will you ever get back to them?

    Name: Chrono Trigger
Reason for neglect: It's hard to say. Tried going through it several times, and gotten quite far each time. Though I never found it as engrossing as the hype would make me believe it should be. It started off very strong with an engaging storyline, but after a while the game kept introducing new characters and scenarios, and I started to care less and less about what was going on. When I spend over 40 hours on a game that hasn't hooked me yet, I'm liable to start something else.
Level of regret: Said to be one of the finest RPGs ever, and the concept is wickedly cool. 8/10
Chance of it atonement: I started this game again only a few months ago. But now enough time has passed that I would feel lost and bored if I continued where I left off, and not enough time that I can start over again without everything feeling too familiar. Will attempt again someday, but not quite yet.

    Name: NiGHTS: into DREAMS.
Reason for neglect: You just hold right and you win.
    Level of regret: 0/10.
Chance of atonement: I will never play it again.
    Kept you waiting, huh?

What a surprise. This thread turned into a thread of moaning in just one reply!

      NEW RECORD

This seems contradictory: You say (by using sarcasm) that you're not surprised at how quickly this thread turned into one of moaning, yet the speed at which it transpired was a new record. In other words; what you describe as unsurprising is an event that has never occurred before. Is this not a correct summation of your post?

But seeing I was moaning about myself and my inability to simply complete a game - that by all accounts should be very fun and therefore easy to complete - I would think you'd find it agreeable? Your predilection alludes me. (and yes, at this point I'm doing it on purpose)

Name: The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask

Reason for neglect: Got stuck on the N64 version, decided to redeem myself on the Bonus disc Gamecube version, more then half way through and the game freezes. Didn't save for like 3hrs. Pissed! Didn't want to do it again.

          Level of regret: 10/10

Chance of atonement: Hoping for a 3DS remake. If that doesn't happen then i will go back to it at some point.

I wasn't talking about your post, maybe I should of said "One reply" :P

You call that moaning? I call it having a bit of a laugh.

                  Name:Mario and Luigi GBA
Reason for neglect: Got right to the last boos fight, but had neither the items or the stats to be able to get past it, I tried and I tried and I tried, from what I could see there was no way I could go back either.
                  Level of regret: 6
Chance of atonement: I really enjoyed the game, just a shame I never officially finished it. I'm never going to play through the whole game game.

Basically I have the same story with Breath of Fire 1 or 2 on GBA aswell, played well over 30 hours, but just couldn't do the final boss.

                      Name:Final Fantasy PSP
Reason for neglect: Felt like I should complete the first game to a series I love. Played around 16 hours and then upgraded my PSP CFW which blanked my save.
                      Level of regret: 9
Chance of atonement: Little I think. The game was miles too easy and not hugely exciting. Not sure if I can be bothered to do it all again.

Reason for neglect: Got about half way through and then sold my Gamecube and all the games in favour of a PS2, can't really remember why...
                        Level of regret: 7
Chance of atonement: I have an NTSC copy sitting on the shelf waiting for me to play. I'm actually considering banning myself from the next gen until I've completed it and a few other GC gems I've missed, so pretty high

SNAP! Basically exactly the same. I fought for about 30 minutes then died in one of the final bosses unfair, apocalypse attacks

When I get in that situation I simply watch the game ending on Youtube. In fact I think that's how I ended my time with Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door.

Reason for neglect: Played a stupid amount of hours tiill i got to a tower & realized that the game expected me to have been at almost double the level that i was at, as even the enemies on the ground floor destroyed me. No way in hell i was going to spend several hours killing the same few enemies on the ground level to continue so i stopped playing as the game stopped been fun.

Chance of atonement: Not a chance in hell will i go back to that ****ty game, not only did it put me off ever trying to go back but i'll never touch another game in that series ever again.
