Games that are unexpectedly good

As I'm playing it right now, Gunlord.
Wasn't expecting much from NG: Dev. Team and the first impressions were good. Then they went to "meh" and a bit lower than that. Now they I'm rethinking about the game once again and I'm actually having fun with it, though it's nowhere perfect or original. Much better than I'd have expected.

Extreme G3. All were average/poor before and have been since.

I found the last race impossible until I realised you have to syphon energy from other racers constantly to win. Never went back to it after completion.

I can't choose a specific micro machines, but I rented a version (megadrive) bitd and thought it may be fun for a weekend...I bought it after the rental (after saving) and played it for many years. Much exceeded expectations. Fabulous game. (& Series)

The music is amazing.

The whole game just felt spot on for me. You just have to keep in mind that it isn't a hack and slash.

Nier just makes me sad that Cavia folded. Would've loved to have seen a sequel with a bigger budget and more Kaine.

How about the Walking Dead 'games'? Given the wankness of the tv show, and the fact that they're not really games, I didn't expect much. But just watching my friend play through the two episodes was quite entertaining. Even if he did make all the wrong choices...

That is good news as I am about to playing that for the first time today. I have had it for a few weeks now but wanted to wait until my holidays started.

But theres something about consuming people that just makes it so much fun
