While the DC is probably my favourite console of all time I never liked the look of the base unit. The angled cutins at the back just looked really awkward in combination with the circular design it used elsewhere to my eyes. My favourties:

    1) Atari Jaguar

Dead sleek without the CD add on, but I think the CD add on is the most seamless example of a system expansion ever.

    2) Panasonic 3DO FZ-1
Beautiful matte, textured finish that you just want to run your hand over and nice sturdy industrial design:

    3) Multi-mega
So small and beautifully sleek, love the contouring and rounded edging, yet not in contrast to the angled cartridge slot and backend.

    4) Mega Drive 2
Hated the original Mega Drive look, like the PS3 it's all function and no styling, but this redesign was ultimate cool back in the day. Made the SNES look like a child's plaything with all it's day glow colours and overly chunky design.

    5) PS2 slim
As others have said impossibly small and sleek. And more matte finishes , I really hate glossy plastic.

Agree on the Jag & 3do too, I find the MD2 a tacky and cheap though.

Glad to see more than me choose this as perfection. Which it is.

Somebody should collate all the information, ie 1. gets 5 points, to 5. getting 1 point. And at the end of a closing date reveal the top 5.

It actually makes my face grimace to see people pick the PS2 Slim. It's like eyeing up Susan Boyle.

Thinking about it more, I think the LaserActive deserves a mention. Long before Sony and Microsoft tried the whole single media box concept, you had one system that was able to play your Laserdiscs, CDs and the entire Megadrive/PC Engine libraries.

                                Slim/Boyle?

                                Something doesn't add up.
