Sorry for possibly sounding daft but what did they do wrong? You traded in a 3DS in part exchange for a 3DS XL and afterwards they formatted the console that no longer belonged to you?

Seems like GAME's deaththrows continue, they could save it they choose to bugger around as before.

I visited a Game store the other day, the first time in at least a year since switching to Shopto. One thing that that i find completely baffling is despite everything with the original company going bust etc even though under new ownership the prices are still crazy high. I know they have overheads and rent etc but im not talking a few ??, games are still at least ?10 more. I was going to buy Guild Wars 2 but it was ?40 in store where amazon had it for ?31 inc postage. I mean is the new management just as stupid as the last? I would have thought lessons will have been learned but seems not.

Guild Wars as a direct download is close to ?50 so if Amazon want to reduce their profits that's up to them.

It's sold plenty fine in store at ?40.

Not everybody is prepared to buy online. I have people tell me all the time about how they don't like buying online.

No, they said they'd do a system-to-system transfer in-store for me (I wouldn't have traded in my 3DS without being able to keep all my content), I trusted them to do it properly, took the XL home and found it empty when I opened it. Their excuse when I phoned up to complain was "log in with your Nintendo account and download it again, it's like Xbox Live".

I remember one chain was called 'Future Zone' in the early to mid 90s.

That's the name I hoped would return.

4 of 5 stores in Sheffield, meaning they didn't have a store in the town centre. You had to drive 6 miles to Meadowhall, or go to HMV
Yeah, that baffled me. I expected the Gamestation to close, but not the Game. It just means that CeX will get all of their previous custom, because nobody wants to make the trek to Meadowhell.

Gamestation is ****. However, GAME are even worse - this news seems like a bad omen to me.

I went instore a few weeks ago, thinking it may have been different after it's recent troubles- and to my shock it's exactly the same.

Sky high prices, rock bottom trade in values, preowned stock outweighing new by 3-1. Doesn't seem like any lessons have been learned. Shame really, because now there's hardly any retail presence for gaming.

I really like GameStation, loads of variety and plenty of good prices. Picked up a fair few titles I'd never heard of and only saw thanks to these shops like Millennium Championshop Paintball, Morph X and Secret Service. Fortunately our town kept both the Game and Gamestation so best of both worlds.

One thing I did get earlier was the Soul Calibur V ltd etd hardback guide for ?4.98, probably the best bargain I've seen for a while though.

Ssh, don't let people here you say mildly positive things about Game or Gamestation. The internet might go into meltdown mode!!

They must like throwing money away more then.

Exactly, i mean if you are not prepared to buy online then you must be crazy. And i used to be one of those people up until about a year ago when i found out just how much more money i was paying for shopping in Game rather than online. I must have spent easily over ?100 over the previous years. Now i would not even dream of buying anything instore again, and im not just talking Game, HMV are also pretty poor when pricing games.
