Came across this YouTube channel today, it really does show how long Star Citizen has been stringing people along with empty promises: https://www.youtube.com/@Golgot100/videos

Seen a lot of vids about citizencon and the hype ....and i get this massive feeling of Deja Vu as they did the same years ago and yet what they showed back then very little is in the actual game.
And part of me thinks seeing all this new tech and effects is just another excuse to prolong the development time as implementing new things

Yep, the footage of Squadron 42 is both impressive and concerning. At face value it looks good, something that will actually push PC's etc but the lack of a release date is deafening and even if it does make it out it feels like a bone being thrown to try and stave off criticism of how long the main game is taking. Star Citizen, from any angle, is just a very bad project to be actively invested in.

Most of the stuff they show is fake or bluffed. It has the depth of a puddle, but that's not who it's made for, it's made for the people invested in it already, so they'll keep giving money to CIG. And if CitizenCon is anything to go by, the demos (and they are just technical demos) shown seem to have worked.
That YouTube channel above shows this pattern though, promising things at these cons, giving small demos but never actually delivering on very much of it.

None of their demod server tech stuff is on any actual servers though - they ran it on a closed LAN with just a couple of clients - it's a whole different thing making it scale across a WAN with tens of thousands of clients. CiG has shown in the past they can't get graph-based databases working properly and blamed the database- what was far more likely is how they were using it - but with CiG, it's always someone else's fault.

The gravy train keeps rolling, hence the incentive to keep stretching out development:Â https://techraptor.net/gaming/news/s...on-in-24-hours
