talk of native 1080p graphics on PS4? i doubt it. 900p seems more likely.

a scan of the case showed up:

I don't honestly think that the publishers would dare upset Microsoft by releasing 900p on XB1 and 1080p on PS4, even if they could.

The weakest machine will be the baseline for all multiformat releases, and I would imagine if the PS4 is more powerful, the devs will not have time to optimize towards that, and thus just produce the same on both consoles. I suppose PS4 might have a slight edge in FPS scores versus the XB1 (Just like the 360 did versus the PS3.)

1st party titles will push the limits of both consoles and will no doubt we amazing on either platform after 18 months or so.

Why not? It's happened plenty of Times on PS3 & 360 where one rendered at a higher resolution than the other.

You are quite right. My thoughts were that the publishers were afraid of showing up the XB1 platform as being less powerful.

          Time will tell.

From many comments on here, it sounds like Ryse looks jaw dropping amazing at 900p, so I doubt it's a big deal, just as long as it's not 720p!

I was wrong, & you were right.

From GAF: Speaking at the Brazil Game Show happening right now, Adam Boyes, VP of Publisher & Developer Relations at Sony Computer Entertainment America, confirmed that Call of Duty: Ghosts is “native 1080p on the PS4.”

              Anyone else find this hilarious?

I've played Ghosts on 360 & PS4 and given COD is a game which can hardly be called next-gen as its engine is yet again another port & upgrade it seems laughable that people are picking apart the fact it may not be 1080p on Xbox One. I doubt 1% of players would even notice if this is the case and as well as that having seen Ryse which is reportedly 900p upscaled that game looked better than a tonne of titles at the show.

It's all getting a bit silly isn't it? Like some pointing to the consoles hardware as being inferior and incapable. Bollocks I say... More like developers being inexperienced with the hardware & timeframes to launch being incredibly tight. This is all just a bunch of morons needing their one "superior" line item to make up ****.

For me the bottom line is on the naked eye both machines running side by side on the same tvs they will be identical and you wouldn't even know if it was 720/900/1080p.

So yeah Nonny to quote you mate your right it is all just a bunch of morons needing their one "superior" line item to make up **** so lets move on!!

I think if one game renders at 720 and the other at 1080, then that would influence my purchase, especially in an FPS where higher detail makes sniping more enjoyable.

900p is close enough not to worry me.

There are other things that come into the equation though, the 720p version could achieve constant 60fps whereas the 1080p version may be dropping frames.

Guerrilla games said today that Killzone runs at 30fps with no vsync, which usually means a game is going to drop below 30.

They've said 30 is the lowest and it reaches 60 at the top level. I'd much rather developers just locked it at 30 instead of allowing it to do that as I find it more comfortable like that, there should at least be an option to lock it at 30 if it doesn't drop below.

I don't think the 900p would be too noticeable, it'll probably come down to what else IW applies between the versions. The engine isn't demanding but there was always a clear visual difference between the 360/WiiU versions and PS3. If the tech is as close as some say then purely 900p-1080p should be ok

CoD in 900p or even 720p should pose not much of a problem, but BF4 in 720p might as is has the bigger maps and huge draw distances.

I think it's been confirmed as uncapped, which I HATE. 30-45fps changes make me motion sick, I wish they would just stick a 30fps cap on it. MP has been confirmed at 60fps, which I assume is the same as BF4 and COD. I can imagine 60fps is way more important than resolution on the MP part of COD. Like Uli says, BF4 would benefit from extra pixels far more than a COD game.

They've already shown off BF4 on Xbox One and it looked pretty damn good in comparison to the PC version. No idea what resolution it was performing at though and the video footage was off screen.

When it comes to graphics the only thing that would influence my purchasing decision is whether some graphical flaw or choices hinder the gameplay. Like massive frame drops or bad draw distance details etc... Certainly not simply because it's rendered in a lower resolution and people think that makes it worse because digital foundry says so...

I know people have 1080p/60 in their heads as a must hit benchmark in order to quell the issues of days gone past but let's face it, it's not that simple and it doesn't provide a silver bullet. I doubt there will be any discernable difference in a direct visual comparison so really it's just mud flinging for the monkeys.

I'm actually surprised it was for this reason but it seems that the games press are being told now.

He's also suggesting that there are similar issues with the Xbox version of Battlefield 4 and reviews of that version are being held back too.
