Not really shocking news, Nintendo really need to pull their finger out for the early adopters and the third parties, especially as the game was well into development. This is why i dont by Nintendo consoles day one anymore, you just never know what they are going to do with them as far as releasing games is concerned.

With most major developers shifting their focus to the next generation consoles, it's difficult to see how the Wii U is relevant to the development plans of most developers. It's harder to picture the decent Wii U games actually appearing later down the line.

Wii all over again...in terms of games.
It will sell once they realise its the price thats stunting the consoles growth. People know ninty games will eventually arrive, but dont want to spend ?300 for something that the ps3/360 can do(regularly better) in most 3rd party stuff.
Simple as, to the consumer at least.

Erm .. And the Wii was the most successful console of the last gen of you go by sales alone.

The Wii comparison is what the WiiU future will be purely in terms of games, but way less hardware sales and virtually no 3rd party support, perhaps even less than wii.
Its a less gimmicky wii that no grandparents will want....lets be frank.
The ps3 argument has no legs once again because it didnt rely on gimmicks, is was a solid piece of hardware first and foremost which shipped with a very desirable feature set...as you say people lapped it up.
Even though there were few games the machine was still useful. I bought one when hd-dvd/bluray was ?499 entry level price, so it paid itself really.
Unfortunately for WiiU it has to rely soley on games, and all we are seeing is one 3rd party cancellation after another, and nothing but delays from nintendo themselves.
Its a shame because they should be nailing it right now.

The Wii sold loads on the basis of Wii Sports. Without it, it might have bombed so kudos to Nintendo for pulling it off.
All my friends / family only ever used their Wii's for Wii sports and they never bought another game for it!
However, the software sales and third party support support for Wii was not good. This bad experience from developers must be impacting on their lack of desire to support Wii U. Yes , the Wii sold a load for the reason stated at the top of the post, but the Wii U simply does not have that killer app and frankly is not selling not only due to lack of software, but the price does not make it impulse buy for the Wii demographic (families, young kids etc.)
Maybe the Premium Pack at ?179 with a pack in game might shift them, but that is unlikely to happen until some games come out.

From a gamer's perspective the future of the Wii U doesn't look bleak at all in my opinion. Wonderful 101, Pikmin 3, New Xeno game from Monolith, Monster Hunter, Lego City, Bayonetta 2, Mario Kart, Yoshi, Zelda etc. Plenty of reasons to own a Wii U at some point. It's been out a couple of months people, let's not bury it just yet.

NMSB U will still be ?40 in 2018. Mario Kart Wii is still ?35.
Nintendo don't really reduce the prices of their games (except for under the Player's Choice label). I think it's a wise move (frustrating as it is). It prevents the brand from being devalued - Nintendo games are a premium product.

Never in the same ballpark as wii though, and 3rd parties were already burned on that platform.
