Didn't Nintendo themselves make that comparison? Not sure because it came from the Japanese but I thought that. Do you know for sure it's like one of those laptop nubs rather than a tiny, limited circle pad?

Does look more like a nub than a circle pad, would make sense given the size.

Okay but that's speculation based on the look. Has what it is actually been confirmed anywhere? Every site I have looked at calls it a "c-stick" (which answers Speedlolita's question) and stick doesn't imply one of those laptop nubs to me but it could be a translation thing which is why I'm wondering if anywhere has really clarified what it is.

If I remember rightly, the Nintendo Japan website labels it c-stick, but I can't check while I'm in work.

It cannot be an actual "stick", wouldn't fit there. It's probably something like speedy said a laptop nub or a mini version of the slider like on the left side.

Out of all the new games that have been announced im most hyped for famicom remix finally coming to 3DS, wondering if it's the same games as om the WiiU version or totally new famicom games, looks like on dec 5th i'll find out.

Hopefully now it has 2 sticks and the extra shoulder buttons we will see some cross buy action and more parity for the online store ala vita, ps3, ps4.

I'd been thinking about finally getting a 3DS, but I may just wait for this version now. Perhaps I'll get a Wii U cheap before Xmas instead... unless there's a new version of that on the horizon

Anyone think the jump in power is so it can also act as a wiiU controller? Would it be able to signal wise with the lag? I'm not up on what the wiiU uses on that side.

All these extra features and the thing I like best are the Super Famicom-coloured buttons!
