Yep, but in the eShop both Space Harrier and Hang On have a big Megadrive logo on them, along with the other 3D classics, which I guess is likely the source of the confusion. Maybe they just want to push Megadrive as a brand in itself hoping it will lead to more sales...?

        Hence my confusion

It does clearly state it's mega drive but looking at the screenshots it looks arcade and reading the review link you sent (thanks) it is based on the arcade port

So I will buy it - just didn't want to get the mega drive version

Space harrier is the arcade version

Hang on is the arcade version but with the gyro sensor on the 3d seems to go all over the place (probably the eyes refocusing)

Altered beast is the mega drive version

I missed this but nice news Miiverse is coming to 3DS. See below. 8-4 play were mentioning it on there latest podcast Dec Take It To The Fridge Ep.

It's the system update we've been waiting for since the launch of Wii U a year ago. Nintendo Network user accounts are …

Miiverse arrived with the 3DS update a couple of days ago. Is a nice little community (on the Wii U) and very helpful.

Downloaded pretty much all those Sega 3D titles and they are awesome. Galaxy Force has to be the best version you can get of the game to date.

They are great but for some of the actual Megadrive ones, the PSP Megadrive collection is better value and the colours look pretty awesome on Vita. But, yeah, they're great here and good that Hang On and Space Harrier are arcade versions.

Agreed. Galaxy Force is amazing, especially in 3D.

Jeez, Trilobite Circle level in Ecco is seriously tough. I should start an Ecco first play but it would only be me in there.

I have never played Galaxy Force at all. Is it like Space Harrier?

I've got Ecco on my ipad and cant justify spending over ?4 for it

The only one I have not bought is Ecco. I even bought Altered Beast, but only for nostalgia reasons, otherwise for anyone esle I would stay well clear :P

Well I just finished Ecco. Totally loved it but some of it is crazy hard. The last boss is nasty. I totally abused the save states in order to beat him. How I possibly had the patience to complete this back in the day without saves is beyond me. Every time you get beaten by the boss (which happens a lot) you get thrown back a level and have to complete a really tough test of memory before getting back to the boss and getting killed all over again. Cruel and unusual punishment.

There is a cheat mode in this one but couldn't bring myself to use it. Can see many going for it though. I feel good for not using it, even though I did effectively cheat with the amount of saving and reloading I did. Anyway, awesome game and really unique and beautiful, great music and atmosphere and some lovely levels.

More like Star Fox or Afterburner.

Don't understand why the original coin-op port of Altered Beast wasn't used for the 3D classics edition instead of the dire MD/Genesis port.

No matter - Altered Beast is pure sh1te anyway so I won't be wasting eShop credit on it. Same goes for Sonic 1 (not pure sh1te but I've played it to death at this point).

I've said it before: I would love to see the remaining Sega Sprite Scaler coin-ops (OutRun, Power Drift, After Burner, etc.) be released on the 3DS this way but I'm not holding my breath for them.
