I know next to nothing about the Vita. Is the new one out in Canada? Is it better than the old one, I believe I read something about the screen being washed out.

The new Vita 2000 is Japan only at the moment. It uses an inferior screen, but is marginally slimmer and has slightly better battery. I value the superior OLED screen of the original Vita more, others disagree.
Vita is region free, though it is a bit of a pain to set up multiple PSN accounts for DLC.Comment

Got my vita through the post today and I really like it, played a bit of marvel vs capcom 3, dynasty warriors next, metal gear solid 2 and ninja gaiden. Pretty blown away by the graphics and that oled screen. Really a shame that the system is doing so badly as it's very well made and has a lot of potential.
