Didn't ZombiU just win the title of the Game of the Year on this site? A Nintendo Wii U 3rd party game.

I think the problem is that Nintendo's quality output is dependent on one man. A man who is probably getting bit tired of it all. In short, they're screwed. I also agree with all that Dogg and Pikate said.

ZombiU is no way a GOTY. It's a poor pretender to Dark Souls at best.
        Kept you waiting, huh?

Zombie U isn't really like Dark Souls.

            Well it isn't like Biohazard.

To be a poor pretender of something, you have to be like that something.

Sorry, but that's total rubbish FSW. Nintendo isn't dependent on Miyamoto, the man hasn't directed a project for probably ten years. There's a lot of talent there and no man, not even Miyamoto, is irreplaceable.

It is like Dark Souls, a lone survivor against difficult enemies. Various fetching missions etc. Dark Souls for Kids, they should have called it. Or Dark Souls: Boring edition with unresponsive touch screen controls, that isn't actually that hard and you can finish it in three hours.

There won't be many other places that give Zombi U GOTY. Early adopters (and by the nature of this place there are a lot of early adopters here) desperate to convince themselves that their new ?300 console is justified because of one decent game is the reason why it got GOTY here. In my opinion of course, having never even played the game :-)

Perhaps Brad, but could it be that people just found it refreshing to play and more immersive due to the controls used?

I think so far there is a fair amount of decent exclusive stuff coming through the pipeline for half of this year anyway. The issue is what happens after that, because the third parties dont seem to be doing much with the other consoles at the moment , let alone the WiiU. Thats to be expected though considering we may well be looking at next gen consoles by xmas.

As long as the WiiU gets a consistant amount of exclusives and gets some of the mutli platform games from the others over the next couple of years I see no reason why they should igniore third parties. They cant make the WiiU sucessful enough without them. I mean look at the WiiU launch, even the launch window only has a couple of first party games.

I think Nintendo needs to get some relationships going in the same vein as they have with Platinum Games, find a decent studio that wants to make quirky (not necesarily original) games, and the WiiU will be fine for the medium term certainly.

If they had a decent first party line up then no it wouldn't be as much of an issue, but Nintendo have always relied on third party support as first party is pretty thin on the ground (for the top three these days really).

E3 is going to need to be the real deal this year, no holding back , they need a strong software lineup, for both the WiiU and the 3DS ... Otherwise its Game Over for Nintendo.

Not at all , its one of the best games I have played in a long time ... And thats saying something, it isn't perfect not be a long way, but it is excellent.

But he's always there isn't he? Being consulted? The man is still at the core of what they do. They seem scared to do anything without him. His game designs have defined what Nintendo is. He has made them what they are. The other game directors there are in his shadow and are extensions of the man himself.

All that is just the impression I get based on Nintendo's output. I'm not stating it as fact.

Yeah it definitely could. It's possible that I'd feel it was GOTY if I'd played it, especially toward the end of last year. It was a new game on a new console with new controls. I can see the appeal.

I've played Zombi-U and couldn't agree more! To use a strained analogy if you're Hungry after work and cash rich in the centre of London you don't even look at a McDonalds... If you're hungry at 4AM on a Saturday Night in Crewe (Wii U) and McDonalds Drive-Thru (Zombi-U) is the only thing open it's a taste sensation and you're drunkenly 5-Star reviewing it on Trip Advisor...
