Yes, because if you don't like something, it gives you the right to steal it instead. I don't like that here in Finland I can't buy beer after 9 PM, so that gives me the right to steal beer from the grocery store, right?

If one did it I'd buy the other instead, if both did it I'd likely buy Sony's for the exclusives as I don't find MS's current exclusives are outright worth 40 quid. I'd buy a damn sight less games that's for sure.

Torn between buying the alternative system and the activation cost for pre-owned. If the price was low enough like a token amount (?1.99-?3.99) I may consider it but it would have to be mine on multiple systems ie none of this new console so another cost crap.

TBH if they are both like that and a lot if hassle I would probably not bother and keep my Wii U as the main system while hoovering up great PS3/360/Wii/3DS/Vita titles

Whilst I kinda feel the same way as the cat, I think the whole thing is vulgar and can't be part if it. It's not like there aren't other options.

A big fault I think is that not all publishers see the Indy that sells pre owned for about 60% of the rrp. They see the Cex and Game charging like ?37.99 preowned on a ?40 new title and figure its only ?2 more its not gouging them, I think greedy retailers must also see some of the blame its not like I will get more than 80% of rrp when I trade in and that's a new release (Dead Space 3, ?40 to buy at Amazon, I am guessing the best trade in will be ?32 at Cex, ? At Game but I'm guessing it won't be more than ?32 publishers don't see that though they see what retail is selling them for imo. If there is an activation cost pre owned will be less, guess who will be shafted by a (Whatever the activation cost is) again as it sure as **** won't be retail.

              Sigh.

If there was some way to pay for the games I'd pirate on some kind of honour system (where payment doesn't implicitly support anti-consumer practices), I'd use that instead.
I want to play next gen games and pay for them, but if the gateway to doing so is rigged with anti-consumer bull then I'd rather play an illegal version of the game to bypass DRM and pay the developer directly for their trouble. If I just bought a copy of the game and played the illegal version anyway then Sony/MS/whoever will keep that type of system in place because they believe that it works and can continue controlling how people buy and play their games to an unreasonable degree. Piracy and payment to the developer would give the consumer leverage in this scenario instead of just rolling over and accepting it because there's no alternative.

I'd say that I'd migrate to PC if this happens but it's looking like Windows is heading down this dark, restrictive route too.

But there's already much more DRM on the PC and you can't sell your used games.

I haven't started Resident Evil Zero yet. Or Metroid Prime 3, Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia, Silent Hill Shattered Memories, Pandora's Tower, Tactics Orge, Dissidia, Secret of Mana 2..

                  You get the idea.

I'm not bothered about selling on used games on the PC as they usually have no resale value anyway and there are more options for getting around the DRM than there would be on a console. Besides, I don't play anything other than old or indie games on PC anyway.

What bothers me is not being able to buy and play used console games. If something has a low print run and I miss out, I like the thought of being able to buy it from somebody else later on.

I can't realistically see this being implemented anyway. The second hand market for games is too huge to ignore and the console that chooses not to defend itself against it is going to succeed at the cost of one that does.

This is the best poll ever, I just knew who's name would appear under each option with almost perfect accuracy.

In the age of digital distribution, low print runs and ridiculous Ebay prices will hopefully soon be a thing of the past.

True. The drm on dragon age broke. The difference on pc is a quick visit to pirate bay and I was back playing.

I must admit, I would probably still buy Fifa each year as we play it far too much.

On the console you don't need to visit Piratebay.
