    Listing PS3 JRPGs!

Recently seen a lot of stuff pop up online for the newest Hyperdimension Neptunia game, and it made me realise that since launch, I've not played a JRPG on PS3 and yet there seem to be a fair few - and many seem to be exclusive to the machine. I've already seen about 8 titles I've never heard of.

So, I thought I'd make a complete list to pick through and come up with a few things to order and try out, or at least download demos. I got an initial list from Amazon but I'd like to hear any I've missed.

For the list, I'm adding JRPGs, J-ARPGs and J-SRPGs. If you have a title to suggest that has only been released in Japan, please state that so I can make a note next to it in the list; if it got a Japanese and American release, state that so I can label it similarly. If anyone wants to endorse some obscure ones then go right ahead! It'll be interesting to read.

OK, well that's a pretty complete list.

It's interesting; I often read people's comments online complaining about the state of JRPGs this gen, but it isn't like that's a short list.

Well, a lot on there is absolutely awful.

Don't touch anything by Idea Factory. Their nickname in Japan is Idea ****. Pretty much everything they make is imbalanced rubbish.

Also, Last Rebellion is infamously bad, winning kusoge of the year in Japan. The company's president even said this:
"It's not the kind of title we should release because of its quality. I'm really sorry for our customers because we released that title".

Valkyria Chronicles is ace. Easily my favourite game this entire generation. I bought it even before I owned a PS3. It's more of a strategy title, but as many on here will agree, it comes HIGHLY recommended. Ignore the PSP sequel.

To the point of being annoying, these are hardly JRPGs but strategy games or dungeon crawlers with character levels.

Anyway, you can add Toki to Towa (Time and Eternity in the west, upcoming) to the list.

That one is more horror than RPG, pretty scary too sadly way beyond my reading comprehension

Well, he did cover all the bases when he said:
                              "I'm adding JRPGs, J-ARPGs and J-SRPGs."

So action RPGs like Nier and Strategy RPGs like VC and Disgaea I guess are fair game.

Plus I think we had visual novels mentioned on the last page.

Also, since the list is quite broad, you absolutely need to add:
                              Yakuza 3
                              Yakuza 4
                              Yakuza 5
Yakuza: KENZAN! (Ryu ga Gotoku: KENZAN!)
                              Yakuza: Dead Souls

Those definitely fall in the genre of RPG. Levelling, equipment, large overworld, random battles, an actual distinct battle system (real time action), side-quests, and all the other staples.
