The problem is there are so many average games that get released these days that have "been there done that" written all over them, just look at Lost Planet 3, it looks like a cheap rip-off of Dead Space 3. I was looking at the review on GT and had no enthusiasm whatsoever to play it, let alone get stuck in and complete it.

Personally I think it's hard to even buy a crap game now, plenty exist for sure but since most games are just sequels or more of the same an interesting unknown quantity is quite the rarity these days and with so many known quantities out there I never feel forced to take a chance out of lack of alternatives, a game has to sell a world, aesthetic or fun gameplay to me before I'll even buy it.

In regards to my playing habits I am someone who obsessively will complete games. The only two I can recall not completing (excluding retro/VC) are Bayonetta and the Wii remake of Punch-Out! (that said I'm still working on 80/80 stamps in Nintendo Land and my last 3 achievements in SSFIV:AE)

If I'm enjoying a game, then I'll play it. There are plenty of games that are objectively quite poor, but I've personally enjoyed. Likewise, the fact that I enjoy a game doesn't necessarily mean that it's objectively a good game. If I enjoy playing it, I'll play it more.

Similarly, there have been plenty of highly rated games that I know are objectively very good games, but I just don't enjoy playing them. I won't play them for longer than I'm willing to force myself to. Life is too short.

I like the word objectively. People rarely seem to understand it.

I'll play a game up until the point I'm not enjoying it any more. If the finish point comes before that, then great - if not, it gets sold/traded & I move onto something else.

I'm super-picky about what I buy now though - the days of me having a collection are loooooong gone.

So, what we're saying is: We play the games we like?

Wow... some heavy **** right there. We should get a new thread going, "Do you play games you enjoy to completion?"

I like to play games that I have bought and consider myself to enjoy to completion.
