I'll have a 65" Samsung. Is that active or passive?
Coe sounds good. I'll give that a go at least. Will I be able to do 3d from my PC? Amd card.

Looks like it's an active. As long as the TV has better brightness than my Sony one does you should be okay. The active glasses literally halve the brightness of the screen to produce the 3D effect. Best in a basement or dark room though I would say.

If you have to switch the glasses on, it's active. I believe it's superior because you get the full 1080p image rather than a 720p one (as you would with passive), but of course this doesn't make any difference for games.

I've heard Super Stardust HD is awesome in 3D, but I'm not sure I'm willing to buy it just for that. Are there any games which support the full screen splitscreen functionality (Simulview I think) available? That sounds like a really good application of the technology.

I only have 3DS and I do use it in 3D mode. Luigi's Mansion for example looks very nice in 3D.

I really like it, I've played the Crysis games and Assassin's Creed 3 on mine.
It took me a while to tweak the settings until it was comfortable. I found I had to work the 3D "strength" up a little a time until my brain could handle it properly. I think my Active set is loads better than my passive set.

My only genuine gripe is that the 3D glasses always really hurt the bridge of my nose.

There is nothing to stop you doing simulview on a passive set, but you would require 2 different pairs of glasses for it.

On the 3DS Yes, as it is easy because it's just there.

On the PS3 no. The PS3 can't handle 3D. With the odd exception most 3D games on the PS3 run at half the frame rate, like Wipeout HD - 60FPS in 2D, 30FPS in 3D. However Stardust HD looks great in 3D.

Motorstorm Apocalypse and Killzone 3 both support it.
Active splits the framerate, passive splits the horizontal resolution...is that right? That's what it seems.

The only game I play a lot in 3D is super Stardust on the PS3 because it looks amazing.

The only game I liked the 3D in was Halo:AE.

Everything else has too much going on to concentrate on, particularly Unchartered 3.

Thanks chaps. Not sure if there'll even be any glasses in the house when I move in. Sounds like I may as well not bother buying any of that's the case.

I liked Ghost Recon on 3ds in 3d.

If I can get the PC to work in 3d on the TV it might be worth it because half of 120fps (which I could get most of my games to run at) would stil look amazing. probably.

Just done some googling and apparently the only TVs that support Simulview are Sony's official PlayStation set and a few passive LG models. Ah well. Would've been awesome to break out with Gran Turismo 5 (which apparently also supports it).

                          No. No. No.

                          I get headaches from it.

Granted I'll put the 3D effect slightly on with the 3DS as it gives the games more depth, even NSMB2.

If you have games that support it, for this price:

You might as well give it a shot.

Oh yeah, GT5 does too. I have all 3 games AND the PS 3D screen AND 2 pairs of glasses...but nobody to play it with.

Cheers. Worth a pop at that price.

I can but don't. 30 seconds of 3D and my eyes start hurting. 60 seconds and they feel strained. Not surprising considering how active 3D works.
