Kinda, passive screens display the image at the standard refresh rate of the TV but showing both images simultaneously at the Screen's native resolution.

Active CAN show you full resolution images to either eye, but it is alternated at 120hz+ in order to reduce flickering. I think some very high end sets can do true 240HZ for 3D. In reality you aren't going to lose any framerate as the actual source material is unlikely to of had a high enough framerate in the first place. But Active may produce a flickering effect that people find disturbing if their TV isn't capable of the higher refresh rates.

but for games it's pretty much both the framerate and the resolution taking a hit on both Passive or Active, purely because it needs more juice to run.
Passive can look worse for games as the resolution is reduced by the developer to maintain framerate, but it will then be upscaled by the television and then you still only see an interlaced image at the Television's Native resolition, possibly resulting in more detail and resolution being lost.

This samsung (63" C7000 as it turns out) supports multiple formats of 3d so I reckon it might work with the PC too. Ordered the new version of the glasses Kryss linked (which are now <?25 for 2 pairs).

I love 3D gaming. I have 2x3D smart tv's, a Sony 3D personal viewer and a 3DS. I have a decent enough PC with a GTX 580 that lets me play most high end titles at 720p SBS with everything cranked up. Love Super Stardust and Child Of Eden on PS3, they look amazing. Interestingly the PS3 games played through the Sony viewer look phenomenal, far better than on a 3DTV, pity the damn thing is so heavy and uncomfortable! :\

I am fortunate that I can sit watching 3D blu rays one after another on the TV with zero side effects. Same can't be said of the 3DS which can really tire the eyes.

Cool. I have both those PS3 titles. Can't wait to give it a go.

Super Stardust is literally mind blowing, you will freak at the depth of the effects. Still one of those simple games I keep going back to as it is such a joy to play, love it on Vita too. You will freak when you get a 3DTV. Both my smart 3DTV's are Samsung and they accept PC as a 3D input as well.

Excellent news. Just what I wanted to hear. My Vita is a Super Stardust player basically. Can't wait to give that a go + COE with Move in 3D. :-)

Killzone 3 also worth a punt considering the price of it these days.
RR7 in 3D is a little meh tbh.

Already completed kz3 and didn't enjoy it. Might get it Chao just to try out the 3d though. R3 wasn't 3d was it? Wipeout?

Currently enjoying the Halo remake in 3D.

It's my 1st 3D game. Definitely adding something too it. Walking through the foliage is awesome, lol.

I think 3D is something I never thought I'd enjoy or want...until I actually sat down and gave it a chance.

How long does it take you before you run out of decent films though

Resistance 3, Wipeout, Socom 4, MHP3rdHD, Black Ops 1, ICO, Shadow of the Colossus, Sly Coopers games... I've not played half of those so I can't really comment on the quality though.

Considering the Disney 3D releases recently, more than 8 hours. Tangled, Finding Nemo, Monster Inc, then you have Thor, Avengers, Prometheus, Dredd...Yeah I think I only have 7 3D bluray.

Okay so discounting Tangled, Thor, Prometheus and Dredd, (because they're terrible) there's 3 good films there. Well. 2 and a half.

At least Prometheus has that brief effect of a HUD being superimposed. That's one of the very few times with 3D that I've felt it's actually enhanced the film's visuals.

I've not seen Prometheus in 3D tbh.

Probably just means side-by-side, top-bottom and frame-interlacing(or whatever it's called).
