It's not a bizarre way at all, Nintendo are doing just fine. The third parties however need to get off their arses and actually support it.

That's a new game every two weeks though. How much choice do you need exactly? You must be one heck of a fast gamer.

the third party suport is dire - surely its crucial to the success of a console

how many 1st party games have have been released from launch, is it 2?

yeah, i like variety - who doesnt? Also if the new games are ports of existing games, it dampens the variety considerably, which is basically most of the wiiu releases to date.

The VC will indeed feature the NES and SNES games of which you speak (all are now 60Hz too), but also N64, GC and GBA games are to feature. Why the sad face? What games did you expect to be on there? It's called Virtual Console, because it's a console that is virtual...

You can pretty much build a custom Nintendo collection by just owning a Wii U, which is what I plan to do. I wont have hundreds of boxes littering the place either.
Nintendo have said nothing about N64 or GC games on the service, GBA has been confirmed as 'coming later'. The reason for the sad face is because Nintendo's handling of the VC on the Wii U is a huge step backwards. Its worrying that there has been no mention of the other systems like PC Engine, Master System, Neo Geo, Mega Drive and Arcade that are already available for the Wii making it over to the Wii U eShop, it wouldnt be so bad if the original Wii service had new games released for it but other than the odd Neo Geo fighter there have been no new games released for a very long time and more games are disappearing from the service than new games coming out. Its a shame because the VC has the potential to be a huge system selling feature for Nintendo.

I would consider Lego a must have as well as Monster Hunter (which I do plan on getting, even though I didn't like the demo).

NFS is supposed to be pretty good as well, but might wait for the price to drop a little first.

Next month we have Resident Evil, which I know is muliplat, but there is no real reason to get it on the Xbox, so I may as well get the WiiU version.

Hopefully by June we will have Pikmin and Wonderful 100 as well. So its getting there slowly but surely. Also an updated version of Deus Ex would be well worth it if anybody didn't get it the first time round. That should be out within a few months I would have thought.

And then later on Game and Wario & WindWaker ... And then hopefully a Mario Kart before Xmas.

I don't think that Nintendo will be the best next gen some how .. The masses want their updated COD etc, that's where the real money is these days sadly.

However if Nintendo can get some half decent exclusives then they can certainly compete, because up until this point I haven't seen a single reason to plump for any next gen machine so far.

Variety? That isn't enough time to get any kind of enjoyment out of a game. You must watch the intro, and then play something else.

It only dampens the variety if you already own that game on another machine. There are a fair few WiiU re-releases that I don;t own on other platforms. For some people I would imagine the WiiU has quite a healthy lineup ... Depends on the persons poitn of view. The lineup certain isn;t bad though by any stretch.

Its Nintendo's marketing and sales pitch that is the biggest issue. Also the amount of WiiU and games seen in Supermarkets is shockingly bad. You wouldn't even think that it existed if you went into some of them. Considering most people would rather get their games from a supermarket than GAME these days, you would think Nintendo would be making more of an effort in that department.

It plays Wii U games, Wii games, it has NES, SNES, and GBA on the VC. Isn't that enough for the moment? How many games can people actually play? I don't get it.

                          looking at the latest wiiu releases;

                          lego games - not interested
                          Monster hunter - not interested
NFSMW - have it for the ps3
VC -have every game already via emulation

thats why i need more wiiu variety

All systems have limited line ups for their first 6 - 12 months though. There's always some patience required.

If HMV is still open in Trocedero and if they still have that ?200 deal I am buying one after work.

                              Screw the haters.

Since November 30th, I have been through Zombi U, Sonic Racing whatever it's called, Batman, Most Wanted 2012, Balloon Fight, F-Zero, Punch-Out!!, and now I'm currently on Darksiders 2. I've not even unsealed NSMBU yet.
