Well it doesnt have GBA games yet and as I said was the problem before, the NES and SNES games they are releasing are already available on the Wii VC, just updated for the Wii U and thats it. If we saw other games that hadnt been released before on the VC yet, like Earthbound, Starfox or Yoshis Island for example, it wont be so bad. Theres also still hundreds of games that Nintendo could be releasing from the Mega Drive, PC Engine, N64 and Neo Geo libraries, with those consoles not available on the Wii U eShop the likelyhood of seeing new games for the those platforms is slim.

I'm the goto guy at my work and amongst the family for all things tech related and no one has asked me about the WiiU yet. I don't personally know anyone that has the system and personally have no interest in it. And I normally buy new systems at launch then wait for the games to follow.
Are ports from existing systems and the odd Nintendo first party games really enough to sustain the WiiU for five years?
People are choosing to spend their disposable income on other things these days. Apple shifts about 1.7 million iPads a week. Nintendo has yet to shift the promised 5.5 million WiiUs since launch. And iPads are a fair bit more expensive.
I think Nintendo got it right with the motion controls on the Wii but we never really saw a killer app after Wii Sports.
Where is the must have game for the Wublet?
I also feel the WiiU is seriously overpriced as well for what is pretty ancient tech.

Ancient tech? Really do we have to go through this again for the umpteen time? I'm not even going to bother as I can't be arsed with that particular argument anymore.

It is a sad state of affairs when people would rather buy something like an iPad these days (especially considering the cost), but in the end thats what the masses want. So that's what the masses get.

Personally I couldn't give a toss about anything else and how more or less it sells, as long as the WiiU gets some decent games for us gamers to play, that's all I care about.

The price is more reasonable now I would say though.

iPad is completely different and shouldnt be compared to consoles. Fact that is conveniently forgotten is that Wii U is selling faster now than what the 360 and PS3 did at the same point of their life cycles. As for a killer app that shows off what the pad can do I would recommend playing Nintendoland with a group of friends, the multiplayer is a huge amount of fun and would be impossible to do on other consoles.
Personally I think Nintendo were right when they said that the pad is something you need to experience first before understanding it, having access to a second screen is convenient and feels natural, after getting used to it its something you would like to see implemented with every game and its kind of hard to go back to a game without it. There are some genres especially where the pad and extra screen come into its own, like sports games and RPGs.

The money people spend on non essentials like consoles and tablets is exactly the same.

The 360 has been the best selling console in the USA for over two years. And it outsold the WiiU which had inherent launch hype and first Christmas sales. Meanwhile the 360 is over seven years old and must be reaching saturation point by now.

I don't want to see any console fail but I think the best Nintendo can hope for this gen is a hopefully profitable niche.

Thing is iPads are used for much more than video games. To many they replace a computer, which is often actually an essential item these days.

Its a lovely system but I agree with dvdx2 not enough on it (yet) When I had mine I got bored waiting, Rayman was supposed to cover the gap after Mario and Zombi but it never happened and I didn't like the MHU demo and already had Tri so mine went for something else. Will probably revisit it later after some stuff I do want comes out though but as it stands its really an ideal second system as Nintendo don't seem that bothered about wooing third parties to it probably because they can't put out anything near as good as Nintendo themselves I guess.

B, I think HMV changed the offer it was ?170 for the basic the other day in the one nearest me

Kirby on Thursday. I've never played it before, so it's an insta-buy for me, especially at 30p. Only a month to go for Super Metroid too. That'll last me for months by itself. The fact that these games aren't actually Wii U titles doesn't bother me in the slightest. Games are games at the end of the day.
