The Rubber Banding is such lazy A.I programming. Still if they can get the online right with the next Mario Kart then single player will be dead and buried for me.

The Blue Shell does take out players who get in it's way in Mario Kart 7. It's designed to hamper the leader, because otherwise the 1st position would be even easier place to drive and hold than it is now. When you're racing in the spots, say, 8-4 you're constantly getting hit by people all over the place, when you're number 1, you can drive in peace because you don't have to worry about people behind and infront of you.
Let's get one thing straight. The best player wins in Mario Kart almost every single time. Infact, I've won many times even after getting hit by a Blue Shell, because I've had so much lead and I've raced against better players who have taken a BS and still beaten me.Last edited by Guts; 19-05-2013, 21:34.

Super Mario Kart was alright at the time, but has aged terribly. It's been downhill ever since. The DS game was quite decent however, if only because of its course selection. I thought Sonic Racing was incredibly boring too. It was like a regular racing game, on wacky courses. Very bland. Diddy Kong Racing is the only good kart racer I've ever played, and that was only due to the adventure mode.Kept you waiting, huh?

Can I admit that I've never seen the appeal of Super Mario Kart? The only part of the game that ever entertained me was the battle game.

A massive part of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is the fan service. If you weren't filled with excitement the first time you played the Panzer Dragoon level, then the game is probably not for you.
I'm a massive Sega nut, so I loved it. But it's pretty obvious that games like Panzer Dragoon, Nights, Burning Rangers, Skies of Arcadia etc. are more niche than the Nintendo line-up. That will always be a limit to its mass-market appeal.
With the game itself, as somebody who largely plays games in single player I felt Transformed was extremely deep, especially compared with most kart racers that only really shine in multiplayer. The balance they struck between a kart racer and arcade racer makes the gameplay a tad deeper than kart racers normally are, and the single player mission structure was extremely comprehensive.

I don't think Super Mario Kart has aged that badly. I would still play it if there was anyone around locally to play it. Maybe it's nostalgia. I haven't played all the sequels but the ones that I did weren't as tight when it came to gameplay or design, for me personally. The GBA one was the closest.

I put hundreds of hours into MK Wii, and it's certainly one of the weaker entries. Your enjoyment of Mario Kart rests largely on your ability to play splitscreen multiplayer - it's one of the best four player games every made in every one of its iterations (apart from SMK obv), and frankly neither of the Sonic racing games can touch it in that regard. Yeah, they're more fun in 1 player, but who primarily plays karting games in 1P?
Saying that I did really enjoy 3 starring MK Wii and MK7. People who say it's impossible because it's unfair aren't trying hard enough. Yeah you can't predict blue shells, but you can still get really really good at the game. It's very much skill based.
MK8 could be reason enough to make me get a Wii U.

I still love picking up MK7 and having a few races at medium difficulty but I have no urge to go further.

MK7 is probably the best entry from an online point of view, now that Ninty have squashed the bugs. MKDS was an abomination and should never been played ever again by anybody.
If WiiU MK has any sort of snaking then it would be a no purchase from me. Hopefully Retro Studios are dealing with it so we basically get MK7 with a few new courses and of course better graphics. That will do me tbh ...
