They delayed it because it wasn't finish, have a read through that article it's really interesting, it goes into detail about the things they had to do to make it work. The thing about the pr-ecalculated visibility culling stuff was interesting, I never knew they could do that.
It's good to hear that they only cut back on grunts in that one mode too.

I wonder if they can they take some of the things that improve performance that haven't degraded the visuals and apply them to the Xbox One / PC versions?
There is a comparison video here of all 3 versions, if you flick it to fullscreen 1080p you can see the differences very easily, but you can really see that they have done a fantastic job keeping the overall look in tact.

After me mentioning the trick of installing the second disc in GTA5 to a USB and using dual streaming it's scary they mention in the article that even that wasn't good enough for this.

From the sounds of the lengths they had to go to in order to get this looking the way it does it speaks two things to me. First is that Bluepoint are an extremely talented bunch and know the 360 well (weird given they're heritage converting for PS3), and secondly that I reckon this could be one of the last great technical achievements on this platform.

The last one for me was probably Halo 4. I couldn't believe how good that game looked, especially comparing to Halo 3.

Looks like a top job on the 360 version. Why are the blacks crushed on the Xbox one footage? Is it IGN being dumb?

Digital foundry mentioned this in the original Face Off

The only other major difference [PC vs XBO] is a skewed gamma ramp on Xbox One, introducing black crush into the image, robbing it of some of the subtle detail you see in the PC game. We understand that this could be an issue in how the Xbox One blends its multiple display panes and would be more of an issue in upscaled games, and we're quite surprised that Microsoft hasn't sought to address this yet.
To be honest, I can't actually see any difference in regards to blacks between the PC/XBOX One version, which are generally darker than the 360 version due to them having dynamic shadows.
At what timestamp did you notice it?

In the screenshots mate. Don't think I looked at the video. I do notice these things more than most perhaps though.

Has anyone else found it now that they have release the DLC, it takes an age to get into a full lobby? I presume it's because many people have bought the DLC, so I'm not allowed to play with them I didn't think it needed DLC - it's not complex enough for the different levels to make much difference to gameplay.
