Yeah I'd expect that if its not set. Good that they added the option.

Looking at them side by side the Xbox One is clearly crisper and more fluid but that said this is great news. I was worried given the lack of any news this could be a complete turkey but its turned out to be the opposite, the best version we could have expected on the 360.

I'm sure the reviews will tell the same story as it's clearly the real deal. Given its also on a MS platform I don't see how this damages them too much. Practically everyone who has an Xbox One has this. I'm sure 360 only owners will buy it in droves.

With the US launch of Titanfall on the Xbox 360, gaming's best-kept secret has finally been revealed. For one of the mo…

An early performance breakdown, seems solid

Great game anybody had severe slowdown on xbox one wasn't expecting that I've had it stutter to a complete halt on occasion

I've had it happen once, when I was running through a random corridor with nothing happening, so I put that down to a bug or network hiccup rather than anything else.

Yep I've had it happen but same as Boris there is no pattern and so it's not like its struggling on particular maps or vistas.

I'm glad Bluepoint has done a stellar job on the 360 version. From the sounds of the analysis they've very much stuck to the formula COD has used with a lower resolution and aliasing, albeit struggling to maintain a frame rate and giving the option of 30fps locked. As such I'm more interested in more analysis of the 30fps lock than any comparison back to Xbox One.

Of course though, it's want the fanboys want. Something to pick over like Vultures.

88MB update today. Brings private lobbies and some tweaks to HUD.

Nice article on the 360 version from Bluepoint's president, http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/di...tech-interview . Really liked and LOL about the 60Hz option.

"to get the best streaming performance we stream from the HDD and DVD at the same time. This is why there's no Games on Demand download available as we didn't want fob people off with an inferior experience. I think people are used to installing games because generally they load faster from HDD, but in our case it just increases load times and degrades streaming performance."

Titanfall isn't the first game to have that issue, GTA5 had the same problem. The digital version performs worse because the game is designed to stream from both the HDD and disc at the same time (to maximise bandwidth). EA are being very sensible in not releasing a digital version. People should also NOT install Titanfall or GTA5 to the HDD, for the same reason.

Running games from HDD will result in superior performance 95% of the time. The anomaly is when games are specifically designed to utilise both the disc and HDD, like Titanfall and GTA5 are. In those cases, all disc streaming will be streamed from the HDD instead, alongside the HDD streaming that the game is already doing, and the streaming will be massively bottlenecked as a result. Texture pop-up everywhere.

More games should have an option to disable framerate cap, by the way.

Andy o'neil is a smashing guy. I always remember when i interviewed him about bluepoints remasters and he's clearly passionate about games. He also has a delightfully brummie ascent, which is really weird to hear when you are speaking to someone based in texas.

If it's anything like GTA5 and you want to save your disc drive install the disc data to a USB drive with decent read access speeds. In GTA5 it still streamed from both sources that way with no bottle neck.

Great interview. Didn't understand half of it, but Bluepoint has done a fantastic job with the 360 port, & it sounds like it wasn't easy

@nonny - The interview actually confirms that installing to USB stick is also not recommended for Titanfall (unlike GTA5) because while USB sticks have faster seek times, throughput is lower than DVD.

Bottom line is, just don't install Titanfall 360 to HDD (or USB). It's a pain, but demonstrates how developers are finding innovative ways to get the most out of old hardware (in this case, streaming from the DVD and HDD simultaneously to overcome the limited RAM).
