Yeah, it is tempting, being a long-time fan of the series, but anyone who buys an Xbone doesn't deserve to play videogames IMO.

Nice video with KI reboot development staff here (and some decent gameplay footage including ultras for Jago and Sabrewulf and how the new Instinct cancel feature works (allowing you to ultra combo again at the end of a match, for example):
(would copy the video across but not easily available atm so forgive me. Decent look at gameplay within).Last edited by Paddy; 12-06-2013, 01:23.

The new Killer Instinct is being primarily developed by Double Helix, the studio behind recent Silent Hill and Green Lantern games. It is being produced in-house at Microsoft. The team is sending builds to the original Killer Instinct studio Rare, but, Rettig said, “Honestly a lot of the original people at Rare who made Killer Instinct aren’t there anymore.”

The MK games were infinitely worse than the two arcade KIs. Looking back, the MK games were just truly awful. The KI combo system was pretty innovative at the time too. Other innovations include air-doubles, shadow moves, interactive scenery etc. They were great games exactly because they weren't trying to ape the Japanese fighters, although I'll admit that I think they were better 1-player games than 2-player games.

Any one who things this game will even be any good are kidding themselves Double Helix have never made a fighter before and their track record said it all. I'm guessing they offered to do it very cheaply, as the KI series has been dead for over a decade now.

If the final game is altered from the current version (a total bait and switch) then fair play. At the moment, lots of guys in the fighting game community who are getting hands on are saying they are enjoying it. They are normally the harshest critics.
Perhaps play it when you have the opportunity, then pass judgement?

I suspect we will see this as the replacement for XBLA games having demo versions built in, but this conserves bandwidth and lets you get into the game quicker without a full 30gb download to contend with.
