Yeah, it is tempting, being a long-time fan of the series, but anyone who buys an Xbone doesn't deserve to play videogames IMO.

Nice video with KI reboot development staff here (and some decent gameplay footage including ultras for Jago and Sabrewulf and how the new Instinct cancel feature works (allowing you to ultra combo again at the end of a match, for example):

(would copy the video across but not easily available atm so forgive me. Decent look at gameplay within).

Nice one cheers for posting that, I do quite badly want KI - hopefully MS will backpeddle before launch so I can pick up an Xbone for it...

tbh, this was probably the most interesting game announcement for me...

The new Killer Instinct is being primarily developed by Double Helix, the studio behind recent Silent Hill and Green Lantern games. It is being produced in-house at Microsoft. The team is sending builds to the original Killer Instinct studio Rare, but, Rettig said, “Honestly a lot of the original people at Rare who made Killer Instinct aren’t there anymore.”
          Doesn't bode well.

Like the 1st 2 games were any good . Never saw what people saw in KI 1 or 2 it was totally outclassed by a raft of 2D fighters not just from Japan but also the likes of Midways MK II Ect. So much rather see MS have RARE make a sequel to Conkers or Blast Corps

              No. MKII was still worse.

At least the cast handled differently on KI!

The MK games were infinitely worse than the two arcade KIs. Looking back, the MK games were just truly awful. The KI combo system was pretty innovative at the time too. Other innovations include air-doubles, shadow moves, interactive scenery etc. They were great games exactly because they weren't trying to ape the Japanese fighters, although I'll admit that I think they were better 1-player games than 2-player games.

KI 2 was a huge flop, mainly down to some bad bad design changes and the removal of popular characters, it killed the series dead.

Any one who things this game will even be any good are kidding themselves Double Helix have never made a fighter before and their track record said it all. I'm guessing they offered to do it very cheaply, as the KI series has been dead for over a decade now.

I don't think Rare had ever made a fighter before they released KI either? To be honest, the more I see of it, the more I'm being won over, but there's no way I'm buying into that hardware.

This game may be terrible, but early response to it is hugely positive.... But I refuse to pick up an Xbone,,, Unless MS backpeddle HARD.

Okay, but will your opinion remain unchanged when there are impressions from people attending E3 period location tests in LA for the title?

If the final game is altered from the current version (a total bait and switch) then fair play. At the moment, lots of guys in the fighting game community who are getting hands on are saying they are enjoying it. They are normally the harshest critics.

Perhaps play it when you have the opportunity, then pass judgement?

They are doing 2 versions of the game, same as drive club. Free Demo version with reduced content, which can you buy after in chunks as ADP. Or a full retail disc with everything on, presumably it's cheaper to buy it as a lump?

I suspect we will see this as the replacement for XBLA games having demo versions built in, but this conserves bandwidth and lets you get into the game quicker without a full 30gb download to contend with.

Playing MK2 last night and as much as I enjoy it, it's completely broken in almost every department. I only have it because I love the style of the first two games. Played it on very easy, got to Shang Tsung and every more he did overrode mine. Then got to Kintaro and remembered the crazy stomp move he had and how almost none or your moves knock him back. It's terrible design at its worst.

The character design is so ****ty, that it alone makes this game look horrible. I mean come on, Sabrewolf looks like a hamster or a rat for **** sake. Look at his face! Look at those giant rabbit feet! Horrible.
